Buying and selling real estate is a complex process that requires great attention to detail; nobody wants to leave behind a property that isn’t in its best shape, or find cracks in their new home’s foundations after moving in. Enter professionals like Robert Young, the building inspection expert, construction-industry veteran and owner of Montreal Home Inspection Services. “I’ve done just about everything in this industry, which I’ve been a part of since 1976. I’ve seen and experienced a lot of things, which gives me great knowledge and experience when it comes to residential building inspection,” he explains.
This expert's work has seen its share of changes since 1976, however; a whole host of new cutting-edge technologies is now at his disposal, allowing for exhaustive inspections which can detect any defect in a given construction. “I have all the necessary certifications, such as those needed to inspect buildings using infrared and thermographic technologies, which provide us with information of unequalled precision and detail – which translates into the best possible service.”
Any home inspection worth its salt follows three distinct phases. According to Robert, “Montreal Home Inspection Services starts with observations, during which we survey the building structure and all of its interior and exterior elements. We begin with the setting of the structure into its environment, and then we get more and more into detail. We use a checklist containing over 400 items.”
The following step involves the creation of reports, whereby Robert lists all of the information collected during the observations in clear and jargon-free components. “I use the Carson and Dunlop, which was devised by two Canadians, and is in my opinion the best system in the world. And I’ve seen my share of them,” he adds with a laugh.
Once the reports are finalized, Robert takes all the time necessary to review them with his clients. “We have to make sure that everything is well understood, so I try to make the information accessible in order to ensure that the clients are conscious of all the facts before they can make a decision,” Robert adds.
Robert Young provides his inspection services to present and future owners of homes and condos throughout Greater Montreal. He also inspects roofing, chimneys, pools and many other components that make a home a home. “It’s no secret, I’m extremely passionate about what I do,” Robert proclaims. “Montreal Home Inspection Services has helped a great number of home sellers and buyers to make informed decisions. Considering how defining a real estate purchase is as a life event, I believe I’ve contributed to many a person’s peace of mind,” he adds with a smile.
