A focus on customer service and a store consistently stocked with the most current product makes The Masque the go-to place in Calgary for costumes and dance supplies. “We’re definitely a destination store,” says owner Cynthia Collens, whose mother started the business in 1974. “It wouldn’t matter where we were, people would come and find us because we carry a lot of unique items.”
The Masque has been family run since it opened; Cynthia and her sister-in-law Linda Booth now run the business. “We don’t do a lot of advertising, it’s mainly word of mouth," says Cynthia. "Now we’re seeing the kids of the previous generation come in.”
The 4,500 square foot store is unique in that you can find any kind of costume or dancewear you can think of, and if they don’t happen to have something in stock, they'll bring it in for you. “We’ve always been one of the largest suppliers in Western Canada,” says Cynthia. “Most people want to be unique and feel good, so they come to see us.”

Today was my firs...
Today was my first experience entering The Masque. I had previously called to enquire about boys tap shoes, and the woman I spoke to was lovely. When I arrived instore, and I asked about taps, the young lady behind the counter looked at me as if were a Martian. Even after I told her what I was after. Finally I asked, "Should I just go look?" She followed me back, didn't know the sizing, the ordering, and her colleague came by and THREW my purse to the side, spilling the contents, Disgusted
First I would like to apologize for the delayed response and secondly I would like to apologize for your bad experience. We have been in business for over 40 years and you don't get there with bad customer service. Unfortunately that was not your case. We have spoken to our staff and reminded them of the importance of customer service. If you would like to call the store and talk to one of the owners, we would like to apologize to you personally.

Great selection plus endless possibilities to satisfy the hearts of most creatives.
This will definitely be my first destination when I explore costume options for events, performances, or holiday needs.
The Masque carries costumes as well as dance wear. Whether you’re looking for bodysuits and dance footwear or a Santa Claus suit for your corporate function, this place has it all. Open seven days a week, the Masque also offers costume rentals.
