Great restaurant with great service and food, but very pricey.
Visited Mercato with family for a birthday lunch. The restaurant was very busy for a sunday afternoon! Overall, the food was delicious, although I thought it was a bit pricy. Wonderful service. After dinner, we shopped the grocery section and found lots of nice things. Overall, an 8 out of 10 for me. Definately will return.
A cornerstone of the Fourth Street Southwest restaurant row, the atmosphere is always sociable at Mercato. Snag a table or seats at the eatery’s central open-kitchen counter where you can chat with your neighbours and super-knowledgeable servers. Order the dreamy gnocchi hand rolled with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano and Romano cheeses. After your meal, roll yourself on over to the attached market and pick up some homemade take-home items such as fresh sauces and bread.
Whether you visit the original Mercato in Mission or its sister establishment Mercato West on 85th Street Southwest, expect expertly crafted rustic Italian food in a sociable setting. It’s a great spot for sipping wine and sharing food. The restaurants’ open kitchens are part of the fun as you watch succulent steak (try the bistecca alla fiorentina) and whole fish grilled to perfection and house-made pastas prepared with flair.
