Murrieta's West Coast Bar & Grill200-808 1 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 1M9
Situated in what was once the Alberta Hotel building, this stately sandstone property once featured the longest bar in Western Canada, and has been renovated numerous times to accommodate local businesses since prohibition closed the hotel in 1916. Murrieta’s is loaded with heritage personality, with its sandstone-and-brick walls, vaulted ceilings and tiled staircase. The menu features West Coast-inspired cuisine and a fabulous wine list.
Murrieta’s is a perennial Stephen Avenue Walk favourite for business lunches, but if you’re working late or have an after-work client to wine and dine, you can’t go wrong at this casually elegant spot in the historic Alberta Hotel Building. Score big bison brownie points by treating your client or date to a succulent marinated Alberta bison sirloin served with roasted fingerling potatoes, apple and herb emulsion, arugula and a shaved-Parmesan salad.
There’s no more convivial place in which to celebrate a well-done deal than at Murrieta’s, located in the historic Alberta Hotel Building on Stephen Avenue. Celebrate modestly with a bottle of economically priced Prosecco, or spectacularly with a $400-plus bottle of Champagne.
