A unique breakfast experience awaits visitors to Altadore’s Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus. The restaurant serves 40 varieties of the thin, 12-inch, crepe-like hotcakes. You can custom order one with your choice of the multitude of toppings, prepared lovingly by the establishment’s Danish-trained pannenkoek chef. For those preferring something other than pancakes, soups, salads and open-faced sandwiches are served. The eatery seats 72, and does get busy, so expect a lineup during peak hours.
Every Calgarian has probably been to a Stampede pancake breakfast, but have you ever tried a Dutch pancake? Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus offers over 40 varieties of sweet and savoury pancakes on their menu, including the option to build your own. Unlike traditional pancakes, pannenkoeken are thin and wide (about 12” in diameter), and the filling is cooked right into a batter, like an omelette. Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus is open from morning to night, so you can enjoy your pancakes at breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Dutch pancakes served at Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus are not what you would traditionally think of as a crepe. Instead of being filled with sweet or savoury toppings, pannenkoek are cooked right in or rest on top of the unfolded pancake.
