Lynnwood Liquor Shop

In the west end neighbourhood of Lynnwood, two liquor stores sit just a stone’s throw away from the other: Lynnwood Liquor and Fine Wines by Liquor Select. Brother and sister, Leon Luke and Nancy Fung, are the hard-working owners of both establishments.

While the duo started Liquor Select in 1994, they purchased Lynnwood Liquor from the previous owners in 2004. “The previous owners of Lynnwood actually opened up the store in the same year that we opened up Liquor Select [in 1994],” says Nancy. “Liquor Select and Lynnwood are complementary to each other ... some of our customers may overlap ... it's a complete service we provide.”

“The stores cover both ends of the market,” says Jeff Sparling, manager of both liquor stores. “Lynnwood is designed to be a fast, convenient, one-stop liquor shop. People recognize the brands here like Woodbridge and Wolf Blass,” says Jeff.

You won’t just find your average domestic beers here (although there’s plenty of that too). “What distinguishes Lynnwood from other neighbourhood liquor stores is the variety of imported and craft beers available,” says Nancy.

With roughly 1,000 items comprised of the top 100 brands in wines, beer and spirits, there is something here for everyone. The well-stocked beer cooler is a main-draw for customers — especially in the hot summer months. But the stocked shelves and reasonable price points keeps the store bustling year-round.
