Meet the owner

Debbie Waldmann and her daughter, Jeannie Waldmann, had two dogs – a poodle and a bouvier – and wanted to learn to groom them properly. That interest led to them getting into the pet grooming industry as a career. “We saw some things we didn’t like in the industry so we wanted to make our own place that was better for the dogs,” says Jeannie. “We wanted to make sure they are all being treated in a humane way.”

Happy Pet Spa started as a home-based grooming business, but as they became more successful, the duo looked to open a storefront. They also wanted to add a doggy daycare to the business, but had to overcome a big hurdle. “There were lots of daycares in Edmonton but there wasn’t one in Sherwood Park and we didn’t know why. Turns out it was a bylaw zoning issue,” says Jeannie. “We found out one of our customers was the commissioner of planning and development and that the bylaw was being changed. So, we ended up being the first doggy daycare in Sherwood Park in 2010.”

    I have a geriatric Aussie (13+ years of age), who used to go to a daycare/groomer on a regular basis. Unfortunately, this daycare closed during the pandemic. I was very fortunate to bump into "Happy Pet Spa" for Sky's grooming needs. Being a concerned owner, I am always worried about how my baby is handled when I am not around. I was very pleased with the result, but more importantly, Sky seemed very relaxed and happy when we met again. A BIG thanks to the groomer in particular.

    Puppy fun!!

    I will definitely be bringing my dog back here. Very friendly staff, that did exactly as I requested and seemed to enjoy their jobs and my dog. I had a very clean, happy and playful dog when they were done with him.

    Awesome!!

    I take my dog Max to happy pet spa for regular socialization and grooming, and he comes home so happy a tired from playing with the other dogs. The staff are friendly and helpful and it seams to be a very loving environment. I recommend it to anyone with a dog they love!!

    This spa offers gentle, stress-free grooming for dogs, cats and other small animals, such as rabbits and hamsters. Services include baths, brushing and grooming, and the groomers dry animals by hand, instead of using a cage dryer. The facility also includes the Frisky Fun Care doggie daycare, which gives your pooch a chance to exercise and socialize in a safe, fun environment. They also have a pet shuttle, which means your pet can be picked up and dropped off for only $20 within the Sherwood Park area.
