A high-quality, single-origin coffee is to be sipped and savoured, like a fine wine, which is exactly the kind of specialized brew served at Oldhand Coffee, an independent café in downtown Abbotsford.

Co-owners Kristina and Johannes van Bommel van Vloten honed their barista skills while gaining first-hand knowledge working in coffee shops and roasters throughout Victoria and Vancouver before settling down in their hometown in the Fraser Valley. "We paid a lot of attention to detail with how every coffee tasted, really profiling each coffee based on how the roast changed," says Kristina. "We wanted to do our own thing in Abby because it didn't have a specialty coffee scene in 2015; that niche hadn't been filled yet."
