Charged $28 for a hem on a pair of jeans when I already did most of the work (took out the stitching, ironed the jeans and had it set to exactly where I wanted it sewn. All that needed to do was sew it. If I had a sewing machine I could have done it myself) and it took over a week. I could have gotten it done in Victoria for under $10 and that includes the seamstress doing everything. The quality wasn't even the best.
Charged $140 for alterations on a $200 grad dress. After the fact, several other tailors quoted they would have done the same amount of work for no more than $60. The woman at Duncan Tailor was utterly heartless and refused to budge on her price, which we were unable to afford at the time, forcing us to walk away from the dress. Avoid Duncan Tailor and a pre-grad horror story like ours. Opt for another tailor nearby. Preferably one that works out of home!
