We have locations on both the North and South shore, and have schedules that allow families to train together. We offer low rates as well as family rates.     Family at its finest

    I have always been interested in martial arts but never figured I could afford to take it up.. A friend of mine suggested that I come to a class at Western Karate Academy where his family studied Shokaido. So I went to watch and within a few minutes I knew this was the place for me. Sensei Doan is very understanding and compassionate about each one of his students... The students themselves are made to feel a part of a very fine family. When working with each other we learn the most we can to the best of our abilities and it helps us to develop our character within. The people in the academy make you feel welcome right from the first time you walk thru the door. Now martial arts is not for everyone but how will you know unless you give it a try?

    Quality affordable activity for the whole family

    The Western Karate Academy's Sensei teaches integrity, dilligence and discipline by example along with Karate. The value of that alone is fantastic, I am very happy to have the opportunity to provide it to myself as well as my children. We have the option to attend between one and eight classes per week in two convenient locations across town and at one very reasonable family rate as well! Newcomers become comforable in the dojo very quickly as members of the dojo, following Sensei's lead, are helpful and accepting. You will not find better value for your children (or yourself) in any other exercise, sport or martial arts class! I have, and will continue, to recommend this dojo to my friends and family.

    I joined the Academy at the age of 47 and have never participated in any sports before. I love it! The instructor and students are so welcoming and encouraging and now I am in a position to encourage new students; young and older! The choice of 2 locations and 8 classes a week make fitting it into our families schedule do-able. As a mum I really appreciate that this is an activity I can do with my pre-teen son and teenaged daughter and that it holds appeal for all of us. Oh, and the fitness and relaxation are wonderful. The sensei offers a free first month which was perfect for allaying my fears before I took the plunge and signed up.
