Situated in the heart of Kitsilano and established back in 1981 in what had previously been the local church, Darby's was one of the first pubs in Kitsilano. Named after the owner Terry Lightheart's sheep dog, many feel that Darby is still looking over the flock today. Chef Alex Rotherham serves up some amazingly unique dishes that play on the traditional pub fare. The food prepared in this neighborhood pub, while unique, is much like the style of modern English gastropubs; simple and delicious fare, served with a passion, and at an affordable price. Excellent Neighborhood Pub

I've been going to Darby's for over 10 years now. It's had it's ups and downs, and right now I think it's in an up place. The food has suddenly gotten a lot better in the last few months, better than some of chain restaurants. The room is a bit old and dated, but in the evening it has that feeling of being in a buddies basement bar-but with good food. I would certainly recommend Darby's as an alternative grown up dining environment for anyone in Kitsilano. You get food better than the big box chains, cheaper, and in an environment you don't feel the need to get dressed up for.
