Meet the owner

Some people stumble upon their calling by accident, while others have the good fortune of knowing from an early age what they’re meant to do in life. Miles Hunter – grandson of David Hunter, who founded David Hunter Garden Centers in 1953 – falls into the latter category. He had the benefit of being born into a business that coincided with his passions and can’t imagine doing anything else. “I did take some time outside of the business,” he admits, “but I returned because I have a love of plants. I certainly enjoy helping customers find solutions to their gardens and garden problems.”

No matter what your question is, whether you need advice on how to better grow your plants or are looking to completely retool your garden, Miles is happy to help. “A gardening issue can be something like, ‘I want the best pink-flowering petunia,’ or it can be something as complex as, ‘What tree is going to go well in my yard for the next 50 years?’,” says Miles. “There’s a broad range of complex or simple problems that we help customers solve.”

34 year old ph.d. graduate shabbily treated by grey-haired clerk when she went to pay for air plant ornament by being asked twice if she had added a fourth plant to the container. The ornament was created by the store employees, not by my daughter. Clerk was not apologetic for accusation.....most disgraceful...I will ask all of my friends to no longer shop there.
