Oasis Flowers

Jennifer Bichard bought Oasis Flowers Inc, in the booming Arbutus corridor, in January, 2015. A passionate florist, who formerly ran an events company, Jennifer continues to do event coordination, wedding planning, event styling and consulting. But at the end of the day, she admits, “Doing flowers for any event was always my favourite part.”

The interior at the Kitsilano floral boutique exudes creativity, quality, and skilled design. “Floristry is an art-form,” says Jennifer, speaking about the unique aesthetic. “I love the European and Korean designers; they’re so advanced and creative.” The talented florist is well-schooled in many creative disciplines: painting and sculpture, graphic and package design, architecture, and of course floristry, the one that stuck. “I wanted to be the best,” she says.

Jennifer began working with one of the biggest flower shops in the city, where she learned everything from pricing, to management, to senior design. Then she moved on to work with a floral wholesaler. The idea of owning a flower shop had always been in the back of her mind, but with two young kids it didn’t seem feasible. “Maybe one day, I thought.  Then one day I woke up and decided that it was time.  This shop was for sale and it was everything I wanted.”
