As Main Street as it gets.

Vegetarian restaurant with amazing food at great prices. The nachos are worth the trip alone and are a meal in themselves. Get their early as there can be line ups out the door. Service can be a bit slow, so make sure you have the time. Well worth the wait though.

Best nachos in Vancouver plus really great prices

Its laid back Main Street style but extremelly great food at very low prices. Its an original atmosphere of locals, candle light at night and great for hanging out or enjoying some good conversation.

Great for lunch, casual atmosphere but still hip...

Great for lunch, casual atmosphere but still hip. The goat cheese sandwhich was quite tasty. Not too special but I would have it again. The theme here is the best part.

Vancouver restaurants with unique washroom artwork

Vancouver restaurants with unique washroom artwork

If you can endure the loud hip-hop (personally I kind of love it when I’m in the mood) and sometimes seemingly absentminded servers, The Foundation in Mount Pleasant boasts great vegetarian fare, filling platters of nachos, and delicious pitchers of sangria. The washrooms feature customers’ own hand-drawn graffiti, which includes empowering speeches, Internet handles, callouts, back and forth conversations, and much more. These anonymous scrawls can be funny, sad, heartfelt, angering and everything in between.

How satisfying is it to order something with the word “loaded” in the title and then receive a plate that actually loads your server down? The Foundation specializes in nachos and even though they’re often updating their menu with new specials, you can’t go wrong with the original Foundation nachos, which are covered in traditional toppings like black beans, corn, and lots and lots of cheese. Plus, these signature nachos come hot and crispy, almost burnt on the sides, so you don’t have to worry about sogginess.

On the corner of Main Street and 7th in Mount Pleasant lies a bright green restaurant called The Foundation. Inside you’ll find hipsters, vegetarian and vegans getting their fix of meat-free comfort-food dishes such as giant nachos platters loaded with black beans and cheese, molten tofu atop brown rice, and maple bean chilli. Be sure to visit in the evening – the must-order mango forte pasta (made with broccoli, zucchini, mango and jalapeños in a coco sauce) is only available during dinner service.
