As Main Street as it gets.

Vegetarian restaurant with amazing food at great prices. The nachos are worth the trip alone and are a meal in themselves. Get their early as there can be line ups out the door. Service can be a bit slow, so make sure you have the time. Well worth the wait though.

Best nachos in Vancouver plus really great prices

Its laid back Main Street style but extremelly great food at very low prices. Its an original atmosphere of locals, candle light at night and great for hanging out or enjoying some good conversation.

Great for lunch, casual atmosphere but still hip...

Great for lunch, casual atmosphere but still hip. The goat cheese sandwhich was quite tasty. Not too special but I would have it again. The theme here is the best part.

Vancouver’s best veggie burgers

Vancouver’s best veggie burgers

No list of vegetarian cuisine in Vancouver is complete without mentioning Main Street’s favourite casual dining restaurant. The lineup down the block is often for The Foundation’s famous (and enormous) nacho platters, but their veggie burgers are just as delicious. The patties – served with salad and mango dressing – are made with peanuts and are dense enough to sink the Titanic.

The Foundation is a Main Street staple beloved for its loud music, artsy crowd and novel vegetarian fare – the heaping nacho plates are the stuff of legend among Mount Pleasant locals. If you don’t fancy filling up on mounds of melted cheese, the Insurgent Hummus is perhaps a lighter choice. The garlicky chickpea dip is served with crispy nacho chips and flat bread for scooping up every last morsel. The hummus is also featured on the Katered Affair appetizer platter, which includes four easy-to-share dips and nibbles.

If you can endure the loud hip-hop (personally I kind of love it when I’m in the mood) and sometimes seemingly absentminded servers, The Foundation in Mount Pleasant boasts great vegetarian fare, filling platters of nachos, and delicious pitchers of sangria. The washrooms feature customers’ own hand-drawn graffiti, which includes empowering speeches, Internet handles, callouts, back and forth conversations, and much more. These anonymous scrawls can be funny, sad, heartfelt, angering and everything in between.
