Our family has been going to the DB since it opened. The food is always good, and the goodies aren't too sweet.
We got a birthday cake from here and it was delicious.
Walking into the Dutch Bakery is like walking into a diner from the 60's/70's. You won't find a good meal any cheaper in Victoria. You can have a whole breakfast for under $5! Great selection of food from burgers to eggs to sandwiches to salads. The front part is a cute little bakery that has the best cinnamon buns, in the bake is the diner. It is located right downtown on Fort & Douglas so it makes it convenient to grab something quickly during the day or during a break from the office.
The sweet aroma of fresh baked goods wafts through the air and mingles with the friendly sound of conversation at this homey bakery and coffee shop. It's the perfect place to relax midday and enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal at an affordable price. Almost all lunch menu items are under $8 – only a few reach the $9.50 mark – and each lunch entrée comes with your choice of a side garden salad, potato salad or cup of soup. They serve a large selection of lunch features, wraps, sandwiches, salads, burgers and sides. And they even serve breakfast all day.
It’s no secret: the Dutch are great bakers. And Victoria is blessed with one of the best Dutch bakeries outside of Holland itself. The Dutch Bakery & Coffee Shop is family owned and operated by three generations of Schaddelee’s. Try their tempting pastries, including delectable delights such as Florentine tarts, almond bread, Grand Marnier baskets and danishes. These tiny masterpieces are rich, moist and overflowing with sweet flavour. Each pastry is only $2.75.
You may think that a bakery has no business in the gourmet chocolate industry, but The Dutch Bakery is here to prove you wrong! Their house-made chocolates are every bit as good as their all-butter croissants. They have over 30 different flavours to choose from and each chocolate is crafted from natural ingredients. If you’re a marzipan buff, The Dutch Bakery makes some of the best in town. Eat it plain, covered in chocolate, in the shape of fruit, or buy it in bulk to create your own sweets.
