Meet the owner

Tuba player David Sabourin believes that music feeds the soul. As the owner of Tapestry Music in White Rock, he makes it his business to have whatever you need, whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or you are a professional musician.

Tapestry Music has been on Johnston Road in White Rock since 1996, and they currently have three locations on the same street where they take care of business, which includes their retail store, a repair shop and a music school.

The retail location is a full-line music store selling band and orchestra instruments as well as drums, guitars, keyboards and electric pianos. The walls are lined with instruments — guitars of all sizes and colours, ukuleles, saxophones and drum sets — and the sheet music is neatly organized by genre.

Tapestry Music, staffed with music aficionados, offers everything from lessons and instruments for rent or sale for the beginner musician to boutique items like a guitar effects pedal for the professional.

“We’re not just trying to sell you something,” David says. “We’re generally interested in what your aspirations are and we’re trying to match you up with the right item so you can succeed.”
