Western Steel Works was established in Deer Lake, NL by Roy Whalen in 1986 as a fabrication and welding facility. Western Steel Works added hydraulics and machining to it’s service line in 1993. The same year the company became an official distributor for welding supply company, Air Liquide. The Company became incorporated in Canada in 1997 and in 1999 was sold to EJ Logging Ltd.
In 2002 the Western Steel Works Inc. expanded and added a location on Riverside Drive in Corner Brook, NL. Managed by Norman George and Gary Curtis the branch quickly out grew its waterfront location and in 2008 it relocated to a new 13,000 sqft facility on Lundrigan Drive.
