Great Indian Food! Best in GTA! Been going to Mount Everest for over 15 years! Have tried other Indian Restaurants but none can compare! Service is good and prices reasonable. I cannot praise Mr. Singh enough for his dedication in creating quality indian dishes. Butter Chicken is the best! Love the Naan bread and Samosas. Great vegetarian dishes too! We love curry and eat at the Mount Everest on a regular basis. I would highly recommend this Indian Restaurant! Ann

Best Indian food around

I come here all the time. I have yet to have anything that is not 100% fantastic. The food and the staff are always amazing. Highly recommended!

Yuck!

I am sure someone thinks the food was great, but my order was far from it. I ordered a Biryani for pickup, was told 20 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later, and still ended up waiting 15 minutes. I can live with that - but, the rice was not even cooked properly. Even if it had been, it was still terrible - almost like eating plain rice with food colouring - and a couple of odd looking pieces that we assumed were chicken. Needless to say, we didn't eat it. I thought we'd give it another shot - since there are reviews that say the food is great - so we tried their Butter Chicken. Honestly, this was the first Indian restaurant to screw up Butter Chicken! Well, I guess there's always a first - and a last, i.e. this is the last time I'm eating here. On a positive note, they have nice paintings.

Kind of rough

I tried it twice for takeout - first time, Biryani rice was not cooked properly and had no flavour. The second time, I ordered butter chicken, assuming that this is a dish that no Indian restaurant can screw up. Guess what - it was runny, cold, and lacked the basic spices you'd find in a jar of Patak's at your local grocery store.

Not Impressed at all

I have lived in the Village for many years and figured it was about time that a friend and I go to Mount Everest Resteraunt as we both enjoy Indian cuisine a great deal . I felt like a sardine as they tried to squeeze as many tables into a small area as possible. I found that there were more bones in the food than meat and ALL the dishes tasted the same. I would not go back as I feel that we did not get our money's worth thats for sure. I would not recommend this place to anyone and amazed that they have been there for as long as they have been.

Best Indian in Durham

It's been a pleasure to be a regular customer here for years now. I've been to all the Indian places in the area, watched some of them come and go, but Mt. Everest remains for one good reason: It's simply the best. Mr. Singh (owner/head chef) is a very personable and pleasant man, who openly shows care and gratitude to all of his customers. And if you're a regular, he considers you like family. Also, this man is a culinary wizard. I have no idea how he makes such delicious food, but it's obviously not your standard Indian. He has been perfecting these recipes for years. I particularly recommend the "Subjee Narangabadai." Not sure if it's spelled right, and have fun pronouncing it, but trust me, order it. Simply delicious. Mr. Singh, you're the man.

Clearly the best indian cuisine in the GTA. I've been eating here for 5 years. The food is always fresh and delicious. The portions are fantastic; The Mt. Everest never disappoints. It's too bad their neighboring indian restaurant has to write anonymous fake and defamatory reviews. I'd welcome and email asking me to vouch for this establishment.

Great place for anniversary dinner

I took my wife here for our anniversary dinner, and must say that we were both impressed. Service was very quick, food was awesome. In the last few years, I have come to really enjoy Indian cuisine, and this was no let down, quite the opposite actually. It was the best Indian food I have ever had, and considering the price, you can not miss with Mount Everest. Highly recommended.

Great food!

Really nice food, healthy, not too greasy, lots of beautiful flavors. I can't comment on the authenticity of Indian cuisine as I am not of Indian descent but in my view it was one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time in Toronto or Ajax. The serving sizes are massive, we ordered an entree and 2 mains between the 2 of us and had left overs giving us another 3 meals out of it. Service was great too and food came out very promptly.

Best Indian Food Fresh & authentic

The place is small, you may have to wait an extra few minutes for your food as it is made fresh for you. WELL worth the wait, the staff & owner are always friendly and ready to please. We met some people there the other night from Haliburton whom drove in to this restaurant and said it was well worth the drive.

Poor service in an empty restaurant

I decided to give this place a try after years of driving by, and was sorely disappointed. I decided to order in the restaurant and pick up my food in "20 minutes". Fair enough. They operate mainly as a buffet I believe, and there are maybe 10 items, but they all looked and smelled good. I come back and am greeted with the smalled paper bag I'd ever seen. My $12 order of butter chicken fit into a small styrofoam soup container. I asked about the rice, and she said it would be $3 extra. The buffet is $13 plus tax, and she expects me to pay $15 for butter chicken and rice? I ask if she's serious and that usually runny foods should come with rice, or at least let me know there was no rice included in the order. I tell the young lady at the front that it's no wonder this place is empty and that I will never return.

A great price and they were really nice about my faux pas too!

We went a short while ago and really enjoyed ourselves. It's this kinda affair where you go in and then you get what you want, from a series of heater tables. I wanna say buffet, but it's a lot classier than most buffets i've been to. Take my word, you just need to go in for yourself. Anyhow, we had a great time and the atmosphere was really nice too. The owner came out and even gave us some fresh nan bread too, which was just killer with all of the spicy sauces and curries - this is one place where you won't feel bad filling up on bread! Of course, old Stewie can't go to a nice place without making a horses' patoot of himself. When I was going for a victory lap with my dessert, I ladled a tangy, vinegary sauce over some of the jamoons (think timbits that are served in a sweet, liquory sauce. delicious!) and then told the waiter that I thought the custard had gone bad. I have no idea how he didn't laugh at me, but he told me that I just put Ranch salad dressing all over my dessert. I felt pretty stupid and my wife laughed and laughed. I gotta admit, it was pretty funny. But yeah, besides from that one dumb thing that I did we will totally be returning.

Lesley and I have been going to Mt Everest for the last 6 years. At least 3 times thru the menu. 80% of the entrees are the best examples of that choice you will ever find ( spiced hot ). Balti, Handi, Khari and Butter dishes are great. Our favorite meal after much experimenting is : assorted snacks, Paneer tika w/sauce (hot), Lamb Biriyani (hot) and special Naan. Also more food than you can eat.

Best Indian restaurant around

Everything we've eaten there in the few visits we've had has been excellent. At the owner's urging, we tried the butter chicken (something neithter of us liked very much in the past) and fell in love with it. We keep trying something new at every visit, but the butter chicken is a great take-out for a Friday night!

Food is excellent!! Preparation takes a little bit longer because everything is made fresh when ordered and is well worth the wait!! Restaurant could use a little re-vamping but the service is excellent and we have had the owner come out on several occasions to make sure we were happy with our meals. This is my favourite Indian restaurant by far anywhere!!

My family has eaten at this restaurant about 8 times a year for the past seven years, both eat in and take out. We think it's one of the best Indian restaurants in the GTA. The restaurant is family run, and you will typically wait 30 minutes or more for main courses because they're made fresh. Just order some appetizers and Indian beer and enjoy your time!

I love this place. Have been going for over 2 years & know owners well. Food is always consistent and the two person dinner allows you to sample four different dishes for approx. $13.00 per person - can't beat the value. Small & quaint; if you don't get there early or call for reservations forget it. Authentic Indian food at its best!
