Very high end quality restaurant. You get what you pay for. Recommend for a special evening where the dollars don't matter. You won't be let down.
My wife and two friends went on Saturday May 26 2013 for dinner. My wife and I had been there many times before. When I had the beef tenderloin (steak) I have it to be the best tasking anywhere in the city. The server was fantastic, making sure we had everything we required. The veal Scalloppinie was excellent. For desert the restaurant made us apple crumble on the spot due to our allergies with the items on the desert menu. I have never been in a restaurant that did anything like that for their guests. The atmosphere is that of a country inn. On every other Saturday they have a live singer who is terrific. I highly recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience.
Fabulous Singer on Saturday Night! Astounding Service: Dessert was made especially for us.. some were Lactose Intolerant guests! Even if there wasn't any in the kitchen, the cheff prepared 4 apple crumble for us that evening within 20 minutes of odering!!! The Lobster, Roast beef, Steak and Liver meals were incredible and delicious. Their servers were attentive and extremely prompt with everything we ordered. A fabulous restaurant in the wooded area of Aurora. What ambiance! Returning often and enjoying every mouthful.
We visited this restaurant after purchasing a discount deal through Groupon. They had a prix-fixe menu which seemed decent but it was heavy on seafood options and had no chicken entrees. One of our guests has a seafood allergy so she requested a chicken entree. The owner/host seemed a bit resistant at first to offer a substitution but then he obliged. Our server was good but she had an air about her; sometimes she cut us off when we asked a question (i.e. about separate bills, etc.). I was kind of put off by the owner's standoffish attitude so I'm not sure I will return unless it's for a special occasion - their regular menu has many interesting choices.
Wow! What a treat! Six of us, usually a rather high end gang, made reservations for a long over due get-together! What a Great night! From Chef David, to Julie, our server who sang a few songs too, to Avie (sp?) who showed us to our table, the awesome tunes coming from Dave in the bar, the entire evening was a memorable one! Appetizers were original, delicious and beautifully laid out on our plates, mains were so delicious and dessert was beyond exclamation! This is surely one of the GTA's best kept secrets! We will surely be back! Keep on singing Julie! Love ya! Jeff
Server was absent of personality. We actually found the wait staff brutal. Stay away from this place! Food was tasty although the main course is the appetizer so you will need to eat after; if you choose to eat portions larger than that of a canary. There is no value here,

The service for this upper end dining facility in Aurora was certainly below expectation. My wife and I celebrated my birthday on June 2 and we were not pleased with the shoddy reception and service. The food was well prepared and delicious. We were left at the front entrance for 5 minutes waiting for the hostest to seat us even though there were no other patrons in the lobby. After seating us the hostest didn't have a wine list and stated that she would find one and bring it to us however she forgot and we had to ask some time later delaying our meal. During the meal there was no attempt to refill water glasses and very little attention was paid to see if we were satisfied with the dining expirience. For a very high priced meal (over $80for each of us) this restaurant doesn't deserve anything but 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Probably will not go back or recommend it to others.
Forget the old reviews because there must have been a change in management as the food is absolutely delicious, service is super friendly and professional and the ambience is charming whether you're dining as a couple or in a large group. We had the set 3 course dinner menu and it was fresh tasting, the portions were larger than expected and the dishes were very tasty. Everyone in our group was raving with whatever they ordered e.g. beef tenderloin in mushroom sauce, seafood platter or stuffed chicken. And the other amazing thing is that it's so reasonably priced for what you're getting. Thanks Oakland Hall Inn for an amazing dinner and evening. Will DEFINITELY be back!
My wife and I went to dinner at the Oakland Hall Restaurant on Sat. Dec.17.It was are Wedding Anniversary, and I must say we had a wonderful dinning experience. We have lived close to this restaurant but felt it wasn't for us, boy were we wrong. The food was amazing. My wife's favourite is lobester, so we both had Surf and Turf. We had a Caesar salads and a bottle of wine which was recommened by the waiter. The staff were courteous and made us feel at home. There was a piano Bar in the next room, so we checked it out, and we will go back just for that. I would recommend this resaurant to anybody looking for a great place to eat and be entertained Peter C
I live in Newmarket and those around know there isn't a huge selection in terms of fine dining restaurants, this one included. When we arrived we were two of maybe 10 guests, service was great to start off, received drinks and decent appetizer within 20 minutes, then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our entrée of Gnocchi and Market Grill (fish), anyone who cooks can appreciate that 45 minutes for fish and potato pasta is not acceptable. Not only that but the table of two who arrived 30 minutes after us received their entrée way before ours arrived. We were advised that because of the longer than usual wait time we would receive a desert on the house. When the food finally reached our table a fly flew into my husbands rice pilaf, don’t mess with a hungry man, he wasn’t about to return it, however when I pointed it out to our waiter, my husband crushed it with is fork and placed it on the bread plate, he asked if we would like to send it back and then proceeded to leave the plate and gut covered fork with the squashed fly on our table for the remainder of our meal, YUM. At the point that desert was offered (25 minutes after we were done our main) we had to return home in time to put the wee ones to bed and had to refuse. Again the owner (I assume, an older gentleman) was made aware of the situation and did not even bother to apologize or make amends, great customer service. End result, unless you have 2+ hours to spend at dinner, I could have made it better and cheaper at home. Never again, save your money.
one person in our party was not served until after all had finished their meal. We had a set menu so kitchen should have been prepared for our party. Was told by wait staff that kitchen staff had a collision and the fish ended up on the floor. Never once did the Manager appeared to apologize for the delay. Meal was returned to the kitchen untouched. DISAPPOINTING. AS WE LIVE IN AURORA & WANTED TO SUPPORT LOCAL.
I went with my partner for an impromptu dinner not knowing what we wanted. We found this little gem purely by chance. We were immediate greeted by the serving staff and seated despite our apparent lack of a reservation. We were served by the most gracious and efficient man by the name of Lucien. His level of service exceeded our expectations-to the point that the dining experience was worth it alone to be taken care of this wonderful man. if you have the opportunity, ask for him by name if you happen to dine at this establishment and I certainly urge you to do so. The food was amazing-we had bison and the most lovely beet salad. I fully intend on dining there again. Please tell him Sarah sent you if do choose to dine at this little gem and tip Lucien well-he deserves it !!!
My wife and I decided to visit Oakland Hall Inn for the first time as we had falsely heard that its prices are on the high side but I must say, this place was outstanding from the time we pulled into the driveway. A charming century home, either a fine dining restaurant with quaint dining rooms or if you wish a piano bar with a more casual atmosphere ,we chose the fine dining room which had a fabulous menu, fine wines and such a charming atmosphere. After looking at the regular menu which is very extensive and we both thought reasonably priced we decided to chooses from their seasonal "Summerlicous" tasting menu which happened to be Italian,Three courses for $35 pp and each course has a choice of two dishes. For the first course I chose a Caprese salad which was fresh and delicious and my wife chose Beef Carpaccio which we both enjoyed. The second course we could have Seafood Risotto with Shrimp,Scallops and Calamari or Angel Hair Pasta with Spinach Feta Cheese ,in a white wine sauce, we both chose the Risotto and thought it to be excellent. Next was either Scaloppini Pizzaloa which is my favorite ,Veal, black olives onions, diced tomatoes in a white wine sauce, very tender and tasty,my wife chose the seafood grill which ,consisted of Arctic Char ,Scallops and Calamari and vegetables........for $39 each we thought it was outstanding accompanied with a $24 bottle of Chardonnay suggested by the waitress as we couldn't make up our mind from the very extensive wine list (she was very knowledgeable and attentive) I have to give this place top marks and will certainly visit again, the owner greeted us and visited us through the meal to make sure we were happy which I thought was a nice touch...well done Oakland hall we will be back soon to try other things on the menu

We were excited to try this location as we thought it would be great to find a restaurant that was close to home with good food and good atmosphere. The service was slow, which was a surprise since it was not busy. We often wondered if we'd been forgotten about. The food was WAY too salty! It was as though the cook didn't know how to add flavour without salt and garlic. It was consistent thoughout the meal...lobster bisque, veal, steak, onions...the list goes on. The dessert was awesome but that was because it was clearly outsourced. Anyway, I would not recommend it. Will keep trying to find a great location close to home.

Nice place but service was indifferent at best. Waiter had no knowledge of the wine list and acted like he really didn't care. It was a struggle to get a glass of water and not once did he check to see how the meal was progressing. One of our appetizers was the soup of the day which was excellent. The other was the Colossal Shrimp Tempura ($23) which consisted of 3 greasy, deep fried, medium sized shrimp and some sauce....terrible, I've had better at fish and chip shops. Main course of seafood pasta was above average however the lamb dish was just o.k. , not good, not bad. After waiting 15 minutes to have our table cleared we elected not to have desert. On the way out we mentioned our concerns to the hostess and received a grunt in response. At almost $200 for dinner for 2 we expected a good experience, instead we left feeling extremely disappointed. Will not return.

It's rare that you go to a restaurant and have everything you order delivered to your table cooked to perfection and tasting delicious. This may sound contrived but our meal at Oakland Hall for the 5 of us was just that. We went on a Sat. night - the entertainment was live and it was busy - I advise reserving in advance. The salad(hearts of Romaine) was fresh, crisp and given a tangy dressing. My salmon was cooked to flaky perfection topped with fine seseme. The vegies had good variety and the yukon potatoes were mixed with a selection of fine herbs, really unique. Our son - in - law is from the beef-rich country of Argentina and he claimed his New York Sirloin to be the best he had ever had. The chocolate truffle cake is recommended to complete the meal. Combine this meal with an efficient and humorous waiter and you have what we feel is the best restaurant in the Aurora, if not North Toronto, area. My compliments to the chef!

We are Aurora residents. Always looking for fine dining with excellent service (not just good service) and the right ambiance. We have been to Oakland Hall Inn in Aurora many times. We bring our friends there or go on our own. We always get EXCELLENT service, good food and we love the warm, cozy atmosphere. In fact, I had just made reservations again!

Service and surroundings were fine. The food was, in a word, awful. Frozen prepared potatoes, vegtables a heavily cooked mix of onions and root vegtables at the height of the Ontario harvest, greasy, greasy quail, wild boar that was no more than fat and gristle and a mediocre lamb tenderloin. Little thought to presentation. We were both nauseous through the remainder of the night and will never dine at Oakland Hall again.
