We love this place! The food, as always was great. We have been dining here for almost 20 years now and have always had great food and service. We saw the bad review and couldn't believe they were talking about Jonathan's. We just had to write our review!!
Jonathan's is my favorite restaurant. I've been going for years and have never been disappointed. The menu is fantastic and very affordable. Fantastic atmosphere and service. Great place to bring your family. highly recommended
Jonathan's is one of the top dining experiences within York Region. Our warm greeting, prompt service and delicious Mediterrean menu made our recent dining experience very memorable. Jonathan's has been operating for 22 years & has certainly established itself as a landmark in Aurora. This is a family owned restaurant that you must visit. The prices are reasonable and the menu selection is execptional. We were also impressed with the authentic Greek hospitability. Jonathan's offers our family a perfect place to go when we wish to dine out or party with our friends. Two thumbs up.
Who ever decided on the renovations at Jonathan's needs to give themselves a shake. We used to eat there once a month before and although it wasn't great it also wasn't horrible if you didn't mind the absolutely filthy carpeted floor. So now that's gone and the concrete has a "paint treatment' that makes it look just as filthy. the new chairs while comfortable are not the right height for the old tables they retained - a shorter person needs a booster seat to be at a comfortable eating position, I'm relatively tall and found myself uncomfortably low. when i asked my waitress why they had not replaced the tables for more appropriate ones she said the had been ordered but weren't in yet which was the same story we were told a year before. Now the food, I love eggs benny so i tried the Jonathan's eggs benedict and all i can say is that this was one of the worst things i have ever tried to eat. You don't mess with a classic and to substitute ham for peameal, cheese sauce for hollandaise, and a limp croissant for a toasted english muffin is ludicrous, add insult to injury by placing a dripping wet, barely poached, egg in the middle and it becomes a revolting wet mess. my mother's meal was somewhat better but still was only mediocre at best. The tea we had to have been made from the cheapest bags they could get - it was at least hot. we tried jonathans twice since the reno but have since crossed it permanently off our list.
I would just like to say that we had a party of 10 and the food was excellent. Our server ,I believe her name was Dottie was just the best. She dolled over us like we were family. She was the best. Her attention to detaiks and our needs was greatly appreciated. We will definitly return. Thanks again . Sarah
I have been to this place a few times, a couple before the renovations and twice after, some friends of mine actually had their wedding party here and I was extremely impressed at how they handled themselves, everyone had prime rib and was very good and well cooked considering their were more than 150 ppl, they closed the restaurant for the night to the public. Anyways I would like to talk about my most rescent visit, I went with my family, my parents, younger brother and girlfriend. It was a thursday night, not overly busy but they had a live band (one guitar, one pianist) that created a nice atmosphere. It may be because of the location but it seems a lot of seniors enjoy eating here, nothing wrong with that, but it's definitely not a modern hip restaurant like it's decor implies. Now the food, I ordered the BBQ special which when described to me seemed like a huge plate of ribs, wings, onion rings, and a baked potato coupled with a trip to the salad bar. When my plate arrived I was quite disappointed, a very small half rack of ribs, 4 chicken wings, and 2 onion rings with a baked potato. The plate seemed sparse. The salad bar was - okay, pasta salad, ceaser etc. For 23 bucks i was not impressed. Dont get me wrong it all tasted great, it's just the portions were minuscule. I dont know, my parents had the same problem with the Greek Feast special, it was described as being very generous portions but ultimatly it was just a sample of bigger dishes. My girlfriend has the chicken tenders which suprisingly were very tasty and generous portions, go figure the least expensive meal ended up being the most satisfying. All in all, I will go back because if you stick to just plain greek food like a souvlaki dinner you cant go wrong, once you venture off to more adventurous taste options be prepared to be left hungry.
Was a regular Never again. Waited 40 minutes for food. Water glass had lipstick on it. Food was tepid. Staff more concerned about going for smoke. Used to be good when I went for breakfast and lunch regularly. We were very generous tippers. Just a sad decline.
Lamb was awesome. Came with roasted potatoes and rice and Greek salad. I have eaten here many times and the food is always great. Highly recommend it - my wife loves it too. Staff are friendly and service is exceptional.
When we entered the restaurant the two of us were seated quickly. We read over the menu and our waitress came within five minutes to inquire about our drink order. Another three minutes passed and our food order was taken. Ten minutes after our order was taken our food arrived and our server double checked to see if there was anything else she could get for us. Great and timely service is what I've come to expect from Johnathan's. The food was good to. Everything was neatly prepared in a decent sized portions. I left the restaurant feeling quite content and not hungry or wondering what I got for money. The Souvlaki dinner was well prepared and is one of the better ones we have had in the Aurora. The Chicken club was interesting considering it was served on a keyser bun instead of using bread. This was a pleaseant surprise as I was expecting the sandwich to be made out of either white or whole wheat. The sandwhich came with a bottle of ketchup and mainaise so the patron can add as much or as little of these two condiments as they wanted. Nonetheless the club sandwhich with fries was well prepared and presented. The bill came to just over $23.00 and was delivered relatively shortly after our server came to clear our plates off after our dinner. We most definately will be returning as both of us know we can rely on Johnathan's for good food and service.
Jonathan's Fine Foods ius a favourite in the Aurora area due to the good food and wonderful, friendly service. The fare is Greek-Canadian and is always appetizing and tasty. However, if the food was the only draw they would not attract the regular clientel they enjoy. The friendly service is what really makes the difference.
The food was cold and uneatable. The service was also slow and hard to get things we needed.
well it was the best food was good, tasted hot and fresh. service went fast we only waited 30 min for our food, but it was alright since we had a part of 9. I want to come back again and i will.
The service on the patio was a bit slow; however, the staff may not have been used to this new feature at Johnathan's. The presentation by the servers was exceptional.
We have been going here for 13 years. It seems to have slipped a bit lately. Service seems to have gone down hill and new decor looks cheesy...your tables are peeling and the floor looks unfinished. Omlettes are still amazing and good coffee...but eggs benidict on the last two visits were cold and rubbery. Hopefully just a slump and things will pick up again. Still worth going...for now.
Waited 30 minutes for food. I was served 10 minutes before my husband. I had to wave down a server to bring me pancake syrup. It was right out of the 'fridge, poured like molasses and made pancakes instantly cold. My husbands special of the day ham & cheese omlette arrived without cheese. He had cut into it and sent it back. Instead of preparing a new omlette like they should have. they threw some cheese on it and microwaved it turning it into a rubber disk. We had to beg for coffee refills while we waited for them to deliver these plated disasters. Anyone who eats there is beyond desperate. I wouldn't let them feed my dog.
their so-called specialty is nothing more than street vendor food. Poor service. They actually charged us $2.75 for a refill of overly sweetened home-made iced tea. Terrible restaraunt. Unfortunately went there for breakfast. See next review.
Poor quality food, overbearing staff, not as good as it was even 5 years ago- food unimaginative, don't recommend
Average to poor food- no imagination- omeltte tough not fluffy and service all about the tip! Burger - no creativity- no interesting toppings- average
The best meal out that we've had in a long time. The staff was wonderfully happy and we couldn't have had better service. More food then we could finish.
