Good solid buffet week in and out. Good price, good service, friendly staff. Generous meat portions. Good soups and salads. The new buffet in town just doesn't stand up to this established business.
We went for my husband's 40th Birthday. We had a great time. Prices are very reasonable. There were kids on one table, grown ups in another. Anyway with all the fun and excitement my kids had she forgot her purse with an ipod in it. You could imagine. Did not realize until late that she forgot her purse. (my daughter is only 9 yrs old) Anyway i thought it was lost, someone picked it up and ran with it. In my surprise worried all night. Called in the morning they were still closed. Decided to drive down. When i got there i saw through the window, staff were working hard. I pounded on the window, someone saw me. I called them to tell them who i was. I asked them if they found a purse, in my shock they said yes. Wow what a relief. In todays society it is rare that you find honesty. I am very impressed. Not only with there food, but also with their staff . Thank you, Mary
Our family LOVES this place, we'd even moved 5 hours away and would make a special trip and do the drive just to come here- it's that amazing! We'd gone in 1 day a bit early & met the owner (who was quite a gentleman & held the door for myself & 2 daughters ;) My (now) hubby even proposed here :) We bring friends here and promote it whenever we have the chance, our girls (who are fussy eaters, won't eat anything green, hate mushrooms etc) ALWAYS find food to eat here and leave with overstuffed bellies :) Great selection, great food, great service--SIMPLY GREAT--you won't be disappointed!!!
We went here to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had no idea what to expect, but my sister said she likes it. We were here on a Saturday night, and the price was 14.99 per person - and kids 3 and under were free! Which is perfect, considering we had 3 young ones with us as well! The only "bad" things I would have to say about this place is that we had to prepay for our meals, which upon entering, depending on when you go and who's in front/behind you, you could either feel like herded cattle or you just don't know where your place in line is. It took quite a bit for us to get through to pay and get our drinks - 2.99 for unlimited pop - but once we were through we were seated immediately. If you go at rush hour, don't expect to get a quiet spot, but at the same time, it wasn't overly loud or have much echo! There weren't many booths, and the tables are semi-cozy next to each other. That being said, our server was quite attentive to us, even though she seemed to have endless amounts of tables, the staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was pretty delicious! The highlights for us: They had everything from a taco table to roast stations which included roasts and ribs! One of the roasts had been sitting under the heat lamp for a little too long which was still tasty with the yummy gravy! The other, was very succulent and moist. They had quite a display for desserts too, when we got in, they had cheesecake, however that went quickly and by the time we got to dessert, they had replaced it with chocolate cream pie. They had an array of toppings for soft serve (and I think varieties of ice cream as well, but don't quote me on that as I was far too stuffed to even think of ice cream). They also had a salad and fruits bar too. Perfect! Everything was good! Not many complaints with any of the food at all! We will definitely be back, if only we had a place like this closer to our side of Toronto! The only odd thing I'd have to say, is that they have sign to tip for good service - which you don't really know how good the service will be, so some of us didn't have change and put the tips on their credit or debit... some of us got the change to put on the table, and some of us didn't... we were a little puzzled with that but we're thinking the tips are shared.
My fiance and I went to Market Buffet and Grill for lunch today and upon entering it wasn't a bad place, the young guy who greeted us at the front counter seemed very nice and was polite. The waitress was slightly less than what I would expect as she was not overly friendly and she did seem to happy when she asked me "how is everything" before I even had any food. My response was " I don't know I haven't had anything yet". From there the service was downhill. The food was cold and not fresh, the best part of the meal sadly was the "POGO" (corndog) which they don't even make there, it is a commercially prepared food (hard to screw up). Bottom line, you will never catch us at this restaurant again.
I LOVE this place!!! This was the 3rd time I've gone and, like each time before, the food was excellent! The variety is amazing! Awesome!
This is the last buffet I'll try. It is by far the best that I've ever been to. The food was great, the service was extremely friendly, and unlike some buffets where you get that sick feeling after from poor quality food, I actually felt like I ate a proper meal. I would 100% recommend this to anyone around the Barrie area who likes buffets
Good variety of family-friendly foods like steak, pizza, pasta, salad bar, taco bar, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, pot roast, lots of vegetable options. Just make sure you save room for the extensive dessert bar and ice cream station!
I was surprised at having to pay first but understood why afterwards. I t is quite spacious and its nice that you can just get up and leave when you are done There is a wide selection of choices of food to suite everyone and the the food stations are kept clean and well maintained. I thought the food was excellent and well prepared. It tasted great While I agree if you are looking for high class, trhis is not the plce to go. If you want a basic down to earth meal with lots of choices, its well worth the money for it and nobody needs to go away hungry or disappointed I will definately go back again as it was quite enjoyable
Ok, so if you're looking for high class food, and china dinnerware.. this is not your place. If you're looking for down home cooking with a lot of variety to your choices and looking to fill your belly... this is the place. For 15.00 you can eat all you want. You have your salad bar, your fruit bar, soup/chili, your grill (the way you want it) and there's almost always fish, burgers, pizza or grilled cheese for little ones. The dish not to pass is the meatloaf!!!!!!! I will say, some nights are better then others, and you should call a head of time as they have theme nights. You might enjoy one night more then the others. But from the opinion of a family of 5, with 3 children ranging from 3-18.. this place has it all. Besides, where else can I find bread pudding the way that grandma used to make it. :o)
We fully agree with the comments of "foodcritic20". Not worth you time nor money. They got me once...but never again.
If you like tasteless food, if you like eating on plastic plates, basically if you like truck drivers food then this is the place for you. This place charges top money for the above mentioned if you read the bad feedback from people which we did before we went they were all bang on. When you walk into this place you pay up front and the girl at the cash gives you your pop and your plastic plates that you have to carry to your table and I still can't figure out why they give your plastic plates when there is plates sitting at the buffet. The food is basically all unhealthy tasteless full of fat crap. The salad bar was pathetic and the fruit was all old and pathetic, put out fresh fruit for top money buffets.
Great family restaurant, kids loved it. Nice variety of food. Great value. Clean environment. Nice that we paid first so when we were ready to leave we did not have to wait for our bill, as the kids got restless once done eating.
Wow, so disappointing! You walk in and see and a cafeteria cashier station. There is a sign that tells you to go to the cash to pre-pay, get your drink, plastic plate and cafeteria food tray. OK - kind of ghetto but we're thinking who cares, the food might be OK Well, the salad bar was OK but the rest of the food was truly horrible. Dry, overcooked, processed food. Worse than cafeteria food in a hospital. Not worth it.
Simply Fantastic! A couple friends and I decided to try out the Market without having any idea what we were getting ourselves into. We went for lunch which was priced at $9.99 (not to shabby), the service was great although our used plates tended to pile up at some points during our meal. Though very spacious the atmosphere felt very warm and cozy like at a cabin or ski chalet. Last but definitely not least, the food! The buffet selection was very large with delightful meals such as fried chicken, pizza, roasts, sheppard's pie and chicken wings. The buffet was also very child friendly with meals like mac 'n' cheese, a taco bar and burgers. For all u vegetarians out there the salad bar is something u sure don't wanna miss, and if u have a sweet tooth, the dessert bar is full of mouth-watering treats like fudge cake, apple crisp and soft serve ice cream with all the fun additions. I know I'll definitely be coming back for another food filled adventure at the Market and I suggest u should too. Bon apetit!
I had read mixed reviews about this place and wanted to try it for myself so went with a group of friends for lunch. Price was $9.99 per person and kids under 3 are free. Drinks are extra. It wasn't very busy, it was a large and spacious place. The buffet selection was great! They had a salad bar, taco bar, BBQ and fried chicken, pot roast, pulled pork, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veggies, fries, fried rice, baked potatoes, corn, a few Chinese items, and much more...plus a wonderful selection of desserts such as rice pudding, fruit pies, carrot cake, ice cream, tarts, chocolates, and more. Our server was very friendly and attentive and our empty plates were picked up promptly. The place is also very kid-friendly, with food kids love (including pizza, burgers, mac 'n cheese, pasta and meatballs, etc.) and they were very patient with our kids running around the place. Would definitely go back.
The food was great, the service was excellent (very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable). We are actually coming back with more family for a birthday party. 10 out of 10!!!!
I am a vegetarian so usually anything other then a Chinese food buffet has nothing for me to eat but salad. However I was quite impressed with the amount of food items available for my dietary needs. There was a wide selection of veggies, salads, deserts and pastas that made my visit worth the money and drive. My boyfriend was also impressed with the food and we stuffed ourselves full. However... we did return shortly after our first visit for lunch , for a return visit for brunch...Similar to the first visit the food was good and provided a variety for us to choose from.. but my little brother did find himself getting sick from the taco meat but that could just be him and how much he ate :P.. the only thing that put me off a bit was how slow our waitress was with getting us drinks..as I am a server myself and know the ins and outs of serving.. and she seemed very unpleasant.. but that still didn't stop me from enjoying myself. Definitely will be becoming a regular customer!
Market Buffet & Grill is a great place to go with a large family or a few friends. The variety of items on the buffet is impressive, with a VERY nice salad bar (traditional salads, pasta salad, potato salad, etc) a great main buffet, and impressive desserts. Dinner includes all you can eat steak as part of the buffet. This alone packs this place with value! With buffet & drink this place averages about $20 per person, but it's totally worth it. It's getting really mixed reviews but this place IS worth checking out. I first heard about it almost 2 years ago from a friend who lived near it, I am so glad we went there that day, I have been back many times, and have turned many family members and a few friends onto this hidden gem. The variety here really is key, there's something for everyone!
There was absolutely nothing on the buffet that was edible. Both my husband and myself spat most of the food into our napkins. Many of the trays were empty, some had food that was beyond description congealing in the trays and some of the food was burned. My husband's burger was burned so hard that he could not bite into it. The food is tasteless and unappetizing. We left hungry and had to go to another restaurant to eat once our stomachs settled down. It was sooooo gross and disgusting! We would never recommend this place to anyone and will give our honest opinion about it when asked. I can't believe that a place that serves swill like that can stay in business. This was the worst food we've ever tried to eat.
