I always go there if I want Italian cuisine. The food is adequate - not very well presented and always smothered with sauce. The service is good but it often hits you like a lightning bolt. The waitresses are sometimes so darn bubbly and eager that it gets a bit annoying. Also, it can be very, very noisy there. We once sat waiting to be served for nearly 30 minutes. Then we complained and were given our meal free. They handled that faux pas well, but, like the other reviewer said, very often the waitresses are sitting in the corner chatting. There doesn't seem to be any management present at any time.
I am from Oshawa and have always been disappointed with the North Oshawa location. I went on line to see which ESM received the best reveiws and it was Bowmanville. I am so pleased we went. The serice was excellent and fast, the drinks were cold and fresh, and the food was hot. The salad and bread was awesome. The manager even brought out the food to us! Awesome, awesome, awesome! The best restaurant experience I have ever had bar none. THANKS!!
With a standard restaurant like this you'd expect the service to be about the same. When the wait staff all sit at a table chatting, when you don't even get someone to serve you promptly when the restuarant is practically empty, your basic salad arrives and has a lot of brown on it, something is WRONG! Apparently it is easy to mess up a soup and salad order. I give places their fair shake, bad days happen to us all, but this place is a repeat offender.

Like Hev said.....ditto. We used to frequent this place about 10 years ago weekly. They took my favourite item off the menu, and everything has gone downhill. We stopped going for about 5 years, went back and bad service and rude servers. Tried again a few years ago....same. Tried again with new management...had 1 good experience. Then 3 bad ones again. The manager should be told consistantly of these flaws so we can have a great local place to eat. The manager never seems to be in when we go. The food is meh! The salads are not consistant, wet, too much dressing, not enough dressing. You have to beg for more. They are stingy with the bread. Pasta was disgusting as well as the sauce. Servers could be better, slow and forgetful. Very disappointing :(
I keep going back expecting more, but every time I am here I am very disappointed by the food.
Service is usually ok, a bit on the slow side but you get what you ask for. My only real complaint really is the food.
Thanks to East Side Marios Bowmanville for the great service and food! We went there very last minute after a funeral and brought 30 people. They went out of their way to accomodate us and the service was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely go there again.

We were seated outside during the summer. The table was wobbly and uneven. It was too small to seat 3 people. The waitress basically thew the menus at us and left. When our food came we had to room to eat. The table was so wobbly that my friend's food actually fell off and onto the ground. While we were picking it up, the watiress comes back and goes "Is it still good, or do you want to throw it out?". My friend ended up having to pay for the meal he did not eat.
I HATE this ESM.. much rather go to the one in Oshawa at the Mall, were the service is much better.
Only way I would go back, is if I was forced.
We had to wait a little longer then we would have liked, but the hosts were very pleasent with us and when we got to the table it was clean and ready for us to eat.
Our server introduced himself right away as mike and was extremly friendly and outgoing as well as comfortable around the table. The salad and food was brought out quickly with fresh bread. The food was quick to get out to us, and once we were done our food the table was cleared by the hosts staff allowing us to enjoy some conversation with soffee and tea.
Great expereince for my visiting family and will deffiently return

I have been to this location numerous times and never had a good experience. This visit was truly the worst. We were seated promptly then it went downhill.
Our server was rude, dropped a cloth on the table and said she would be back. No name mentioned, no welcome, nothing.She came back and took our meal orders but no drinks, upon correcting her, she said ya sure, drinks, what do you want?
I then asked what sides I could get and she grunted ran and got a menu, opened it and pointed and said, there, these are them. Needless to say NO TIP

I love East Side's, but this particular branch has terrible service CONSISTENTLY. It's right by our house so we used to go often. The staff are always too busy flirting with each other to serve customers. On our LAST visit we witnessed two other tables having significant problems, including a family that walked out. My boyfriend had a sandwich and the bun it was on was mouldy. (Very mouldy) and they only took 10% off our bill. (which they made up in overcharging us on our drinks) This was our fourth visit with poor service. I would go into more detail, but I'm not sure how many characters I can write. Suffice to say, as someone who was a regular, CONSISTENTLY POOR SERVICE. A franchise manager needs to be called in on this one.
Very poor service. Got take out, they said 15 minutes it took 45 minutes to get the order. They screwed up the order and gave us the wrong dishes. Didn't care about our complaints. Never again will I go to this East Sides, I love there food but won't stand for there service. Go to the North Oshawa East Sides from now on. Live and learn.

i have been there twice and the first time i went it was terrible. the service was aweful and food not good. the second time i went it was awesome the waitress what super nice and always there and the food was great. i will have to go best 2 of 3 to give a rating
After getting to our table and been passed a cloth by the waitress to wipe off our own table. Then bugging her to get us some cutlery to eat our food. One of our guests received a large piece of steel wool in her meal. When the manager came over he cracked a joke at the idea of the wool and then took off. He returned with 3 VHS copies of "ET" he said this was his way of saying sorry then added "it doesn't matter i've got a whole case of those things in the back" which obviosly didn't make anyone appreciate them. When we received the bill and we were charged for the meal, I comfronted the manager. Being a restaurant manager myself I figured that there would be no issue with him comping a meal. But to my astonishment he rudely refused and claimed that he had to watch his costs. I told him that if she had dropped that dish on the way out it would have gone under his waste column and there wouldn't be an issue. All i asked was that he bite the $4 food cost it took to make the meal. He then again rudely refused and said that He feels that he doesn't need to comp a meal since he made everything smooth with the VHS tapes. Obviously i will not be back, nor anyone I talk to.
