Visited with my friend Jan.16/2012.I've been before and food is pretty good.In Dec. furnace wasn't working & pretty cold.Kept coat on while I ate. This time both toilets were not working.Food is good and not a bad price.Hard to find good F&C place in Brantford,so will likely go back & hope furnace & toilets are in working order.
while the dinner was ok things have changed recently - instead of actual lemon wedges the owner has cheaped out and gives a squeeze bottle of lemon juice. and suddenly you have to ask for all the condiments or the student server seems to forget. even the salt and pepper is just little paper packets now.
It was my first time ordering fish and chips from Maria's and I had it delivered. The fish and chip arrived about 45 mins after I placed the order. It was probably one of the better place in the area to order fish and chip from.
They have a great business going, but the cooks are going to ruin it. The fish is drenched in grease, why not drain on paper or something before packing? The fries aren't crispy, It's MEGA expensive.. like $8 or $9 for an order of chicken fingers & fries for takeout, and THREE bucks if you want to add ONE chicken finger.. and these are not large chicken fingers! This is more expensive than one of the much nicer places in town, such as Moose Winooski's or The Keg! It also seems like the one excellent cashier does most of the work and has a great attitude. Hope she can wear some attitude off onto the employees hiding out in the back!
Very tasty fish, Wednesday is all u can eat is great. $8.95 for Pollock and chips. They close early though at 7pm so you have to get there early enough.
UPDATE:Ratings gone from 4 stars down to less
HMMMMMM I dont believe it, Went to all u can eat tonight and what do you know , 1 hr before they close they could not give us the all you can eat special as they claimed they didnt have enough pollock left only 5 pcs . The restaurant was empty and there was no way they sold that much fish in an hour or 2. The owner would NOT substitute any other fish and therefor allowed us to walk out and lose our business. Others came in after us and also had to leave. NOT good for business. This new owner is going to lose any business they could have and will end up having to close up shop. You dont turn away customers , you offer them a substitute even if it costs you more money rather then lose or have unhappy customers. Was Not impressed, hubby and I will not return. Went to Mr Chips on Colborn street, was great and awesome service .
Great new owner! Fish is great no greassy, I think she spending more time on quality of food and service cause found have a great taste to it. Would high recommend this nice little resturant to anyone!
New to town, and was recommended as a good fish & chips place. Food must be terribly bad here if this is the best the city has to offer! The soggiest, greasiest fish & chips I've ever had to misfortune of spending money on! Even tho asked for 'crispy', too. Don't get me wrong, I love F&C, and of course I expect greasy.. but I'm talking pure flowing GREASE, so much the fish didn't have a chance, and the fries were mush also.. like undercooked, and yet mushy. Is this possible?
I would recommend Maria's Fish and Chips to anyone. It is a great meal at a great price. The halibut dinner is very good and quite filling. The girls that work here are friendly and courteous. Jim does a fantastic job in the kitchen and is always willing to meet and greet his customers. Stop by for a bite .. you will be happy you did.
Fantastic. The servers are welcoming and friendly, and the service is fast. The food was great, fish was tasty and crispy, fries were crispy too. We had take-out from there once, and the fish really loses some of it's crunch in the styrofoam, but fresh, it's just the best.
