“I’m kind of obsessed with dogs,” Jessica Pye, founder of the Bark Grooming Boutique, says. “I love all their different personalities. I even love their smell.”
Her love of dogs drove Jessica to start grooming them, but after a while she wanted to do something different for herself and her customers. “I’ve been grooming since 2000,” Jessica says, “but I wanted to open my own shop. I had learned a lot of ways that the business could change – simple ways that the experience could be better for everyone.” With those simple ideas in mind, Jessica opened her own pet grooming salon, a place where she can meet new dogs everyday and leave them looking (and smelling) great.
I went for a nail trim which is listed on their website as $10 for walk ins. I was charged $20. When I asked why the price was doubled I was first told it was because I have a large dog. When I pointed out that another customer was just told the price was $10 and their dog was the exact same size if not larger, I was then told it was because he was nervous. So if you have a dog who gets nervous when a stranger whips them into another room and ties them to a table, then expect to pay double.
When I brought my dog in, she had a few knots I pointed them out and was told it was nothing. So I asked for a breed appropriate style after growing her hair out. WELL.. When I picked her up she was completely shaved down, not even a cute little cut of sorts. I could have done that myself and saved $60.00! They took the easy way out! Should have known better, only 15 minutes of brushing and they give up and resort to just shaving. Makes for easy money this way! No, I do not recommend this place.
We paid 80$. I showed a picture of what my dog usually gets. It was very short shaved look. And they left her 2 inches long. After looking at the picture and saying ok. I tried contacting them a couple of times to see if they would give her the haircut discussed. But no response. We have never been to a groomer that was this bad. im very upset paying that much money and not getting what we clearly asked for and them not getting back to us either, because then I wouldn't have had 2 write a review
I brought a foster dog from The Animal Guardian Society to Bark and I was very impressed with how clean and friendly their boutique environment is. The groomers were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable about leaving him there to get groomed. When I went to pick up my foster dog I couldn't believe what an amazing job the groomers did. His fur was so soft, he smelt amazing and his cut was gorgeous! I could tell they took their time to make sure he looked his best for his new home.
Horrible. Dog looks awful....like a PetSmart cut. Not at all what I asked for. Over $90 for an unprofessional cut. Does not even look like his breed anymore.
As the Business owner, I would like to say we do our absolute best to meet the needs of our customers, however there are a few factors that can affect the outcome of our grooms. The dogs behaviour, coat condition and sometime a simple miscommunication between groomer and customer.
I was not made aware of this at the time so I can't say directly to this situation what the issue was. Had we been given the opportunity to make it right I AM confident we could have resolved the problem.

Very Happy
I have been looking for a place like this one for years.. This is by far the best place in the area, professional / clean / amazing animal care / and such nice people. I only wish i could find a place this good for myself ;)
We have owned dogs that have needed regular grooming for about 20 years and this is the first groomer with whom we have been 100% happy. My dog looks (and smells) great and, most importantly, he is very happy when I take him back and when I pick him up.
I absolutely loved all aspects of my experience at Bark! The Owner/Groomer was a consummate professional in every regard! The setting was fresh and modern - and very cute! It was clean and sanitary which made me feel very comfortable bringing my best pal Buddy to the boutique! He's a Wire Haired German Pointer so it was no easy feat to come out looking as amazing as he did - but WOW...I mean awesome in every way! The owners skill, experience and creativity shined through when you saw the finished cut! Buddy looked amazing! I've taken Buddy to other grooming salons but I'd never received the fantastic service like at did when I went to Bark! It was intimate and Buddy wasn't just another animal to the Owner/Groomer; he was Buddy! She made him feel very at ease throughout the while process and you could tell she truly cared for all the animals and clients she attended to! I could go on forever singing Barks! praises but instead I leave it to you - if you are looking for an intimate, friendly, unique grooming salon run with kindness, professionalism and experience - well then, Bark! is the absolute must place to go to! I did and I loved it! So did Buddy! I'll go to Bark! every time for grooming care - it's paws down the best little grooming boutique there is! THREE BARKS for Courtice's very own Bark!
