On more than one occasion I have had delivery. I ordered on behalf of a client and informed the delivery person I could not tip because I was paying with my clients money. I was ripped apart and rudely spoken to by the driver because I was not able to tip. Telephone service is terrible as the staff have little to no people skills. It's a shame the service is so bad because the food is fantastic. Management should look into better service staff.

Save for the Hype

They may have lucked out with getting a feature on You Gotta Eat Here! However I fear this won't last. Don't get me wrong. Between four adults, we shared a large salad, appy platter and a large thick crust pizza. So full that we went home with more than half the pizza left. Just finished the last piece for lunch today. Delicious! However, there were a few things which weren't so great. First of all the "large salad" didn't seem like anything more than the salad in a bag you buy at the grocery store. It was mostly lettuce with about five cherry tomatoes and some purple cabbgage. The appy platter was five raviollis and about twenty mushrooms for $10, which to me is overpriced. Now the reason I think this won't last once the hype wears off... They charged us .75 for spicy dipping sauce. Which to me tasted like regular marinara with some hot peppers thrown in. Wasn't remotely spicy. Second, no free refills. I mean, most restaurant diners are used to getting refills. Why irk people over 2 cents worth of syrup? Third is the line-up. As people start to get tired of waiting for the line, word will get around about other places nearby that almost as good and things will start to trail off. Incidentally speaking of line-ups, we and several others were sitting in our cars waiting for them to open at 4:30. When I came up to the front door, they were already open. Would be nice if they changed the sign on the door to reflect the actual hours. So, about the pizza. I see why this is their specialty. The thick crust was moist, but airy. Not too doughy. The italian sausage was big chunks. Fresh slices of pepper and mushroom. Having said that there wasn't as much sauce on the pizza as I would have liked, but maybe that's part of the "Chicago Style". Its a bit far from home, but I would be tempted to try their pasta next time I am in town. Would I recommend it? Yes... if you are in Hamilton and like pizza. Get there early. FYI there is no parking lot. 1 hour street parking only. Restaurant is handcap accessable, but washrooms are located in the basement and the stairs are steep.

Never again

I know this place is busy, I get it. I am happy that a local Hamilton business is popular. However, IF YOU CANNOT GIVE AN ACCURATE DELIVERY TIME, DO NOT DELIVER! Been waiting 2 hours so far for our delivery order. We were told an hour to an hour and 15 minutes, and it has been 2 hours. Once again, I get that you are busy, but 45 minutes to an hour late (or more, we don't know yet!) is just ridiculous. On top of which, the food is nowhere near the worth wait from my last 2 dining experiences. Never again.

Good food, but....

I really enjoy Chicago style pizza but their prices sky-rocketed. I am very disappointed with this. The pricing use to be quiet reasonable and weekly affordable. But now it's a monthly treat. I am disappointed with this because we used to good patrons for a very long time. Now I feel they only care about bringing in money then there dedicated faithful customers.

Meh.

After hearing about this place all over the city, and even seeing the TV show about it, I decided to pony up the money for a dinner... After ordering a large stuffed pizza and an order of veal parm, I anxiously awaited delivery of this masterpiece.. After arrival, I dove into the deep dish stuffed, and was rather disappointed.. After hearing all of the glowing reviews about the quality and taste, I changed my vision of Nonna in the kitchen for hours on end brewing up batches of fresh, authentic sauce to a vision of some guy pouring sauce directly out of a can directly onto my pizza.. The toppings were bland and tasted like processed meat.. Not a fan, and I'm sorry if you don't agree with me, but this is NOT authentic chicago style pizza, and if you agree, you probably enjoy spaghetti and meatballs from Heinz.. you know, the one from the can!

Amazing little place

I have been going to Chicago Style for more than 20 years. I love that it is a family restaurant. The tiramisu is homemade and exceptional. Can't complete with any other restaurant. I usually always have the fettuccine alfredo and again it does not compare to any other restaurant. It is the best. The portion sizes are more than enough, a great value for the money. It is a gem of a restaurant.

Another positive, but not glowing, review

Before writing this, most of the important elements have been captured in previous reviews. Since its exposure on Food Network's, "You Gotta Eat Here", our server said that business has been busier than ever. Therefore, be patient and be prepared to wait for a table. We waited no less than 45 minutes on a Saturday night. It is a rather small dining room. What we ordered is listed below. The thick-style pizza crust texture is almost bread-like and therefore quite filling. Previous reviews have commented on the abundance of cheese and our experience was no exception. I love cheese on pizza as much as the next person, but yes, you CAN have too much of a good thing. It eclipsed the taste of the sauce and some of the toppings. Pepperoni on a pizza should be caramelized but sadly, it wasn't (I blame it on too much cheese). Nevertheless, the pizza was otherwise enjoyable and the Italian sausage premium topping was a nice touch. The chicken breast as part of the tortellini platter was very nicely seasoned and not dry at all. Bread service would have been a nice touch as there was too much sauce served with this dish. Portions are generous all around. Both the salad and soup were good. The caeser salad had pancetta - again, a nice touch. If you decide to dine here, come patient but very hungry. I may return if I'm feeling that combination some time. I might be bold enough to ask them to reduce the cheese on my next visit.

Don't see what is so great.

Where do they get these great reviews? Everything is premade frozen and thawed when needed. This would have passed for a great place in the 70's but today this is unacceptable. You could tell they just poured sauce from a can added a little garlic and blammo you got sauce. Minimal effort for maximum profit I guess.

Pasta is Gross; Only Good for Pizza

Their Pizza might be alright but their pasta is horrible!! I asked for a vegetarian sauce and I got a meat sauce. The waitress was extremely rude and didn't want to take it back.Their Manicotti was gross. It's always made with ricotta cheese as its very light and compliments the tomato sauce. They were too cheap and filled it with mozzarella. It was very stringy and hard to eat. The decor was tacky and the service was just ok. Don't order the Pasta. And if you don't like really thick pizza this place isn't for you either. It's American Style Pizza not Italian.

I Gotta Eat Here Again...and again

Saw this place on tv & just had to make the trek to Hamilton. Since this place does not take reservations, we waited a little over an hour for a table, but it was well worth it. The stuffed pizza is amazing. If you love pizza, especially Chicago style, you must try this. The portions are huge and the prices are extremely reasonable. All the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. The staff is very nice also. I wish I lived closer to Hamilton.

You Gotta Eat Here!

I have been here multiple times and the first time I tried it I LOVED it, and the second and third. I think it is truly a hidden gem, not very noticeable from the street and pretty small only seating about 20-40 at a time. It has a great family feel to it as well. First off, there is usually a wait, but most of the time it is never as long as they say. The waitresses are attentive to you and also tell you about the specials. The food doesn't take long at all and is reasonably priced, and once you get it, it is piping hot and fresh! It is a true Italian restaurant with pizza, pasta, breads, and wine. The flavors they use in their sauces are incredible and you will never leave there hungry. Their portion sizes are big enough for two days. An interesting fact as well, is it was featured on food network's show "You Gotta Eat Here". The only things I would try and improve are getting a bigger venue, more sitting and maybe more waitresses. Other than that, I would definitely keep going back!

Second try getting in....

First time I tried getting in was told hour and a half and again last night we had to wait that amount of time. When we did finally get in the wait for food was way too long and the entrance is always full of people it gets a bit stressful. I liked the food and we made the mistake of ordering similar style meals so everything was pasta and tomato sauce. It was good, not mind blowing or oh man I got to come back here. The place needs to expand and give people some room to breath and the staff look like they are struggling to keep up with orders and take out. I had to also add the amount of cheese on the meals was way too much almost a waste for us....I guess if you really like cheese?

OH SO YUMMY!!!

So after recently moving back to Hamilton, I rekindled my love of this place! After being on Food Network, the wait times have exploded, delivery is almost 2 hours .... but oh so worth the wait! We had the Shack deep dish pizza and the raviolli! The Shack was just how I remember it, absolutley indulgent! The raviolli, was to die for! My 2 year old daughter ate till she looked like she had a penguin belly! It says alot about quality and consistency that after 12 years the food is as good as I remember it! What a family gem in Hamilton!

We visited on a Sunday night and the restaurant was full but the wait was not very long. We shared an antipasto salad which came with iceberg lettuce, black olives, croutons, onions, pickled peppers and salami, ham & cheese, rolled up. It was dressed with a house vinegarette. It was large and pretty good and only about $6. We waited about a 1/2 hour for a deep dish roast beef stuffed pizza. The menu states that it takes a 1/2 hour so we ordered the pizza right away. It came piping hot and loaded with roast beef, and mozzarella. No disappointment and well worth the wait. We each had one slice and were absolutely stuffed. If we didn't eat the salad first maybe we could have shared a second slice. The pizza was delicious. After a beer each and after tax & tip we spent $50. Will definitely recommend the pizza. Will like to visit again and try the pasta.

Active Citizenship

This place is the most under rated pizza joint in the city hands down. Honestly the appearance inside could use a little tune up, or maybe a renovation of the dining room to make more room and comfortable seating. As for the service, it was pretty good, no complaints. My girlfriend wanted a virgin ceaser which isn't on the menu but the server made one up no problem. She said it was one of the best ones shes had from a restaurant. Price range, unreal. Very cheap bill.. $19 for the two of us. You wont see this at a place with this food quality. The appetizer menu is very cheap. I think I paid $3 for garlic bread and cheese. The atmosphere is okay. Like I said before, a tune up would be great. My last visit was pretty empty inside, but I have been here before where there is a lack of seating and you're sitting feeling crammed. Not much walking room when its busy.. lots of shuffling around. I will visit again for sure. This place has fine dining quality food, in a cheap little close to home place. Maybe that's what makes Chicago style so good to eat.. a little place, non corporation, all made from scratch and home made recipes
