We were told to go here because they have iPads. Cool idea because you can see pictures of the food but you barely have a server, and it was impossible to get a drink or any assistance.
Our server came over and VERY quickly told us how to order on the iPad. Then he asked if we wanted drinks (and I wanted something mixed and fruity from the bar) so the guys ordered their beers and when I asked what they had he said "everything, what do you want?"
He told me to put it in the iPad when I decided. I didn't get a chance to ask for water. We started ordering including my drink in our iPad and another server came over after we completed our order to check our iPad. Every time we ordered something they had to re-send it to the kitchen for some reason. My drink never came.
The food was alright but fairly bland and it was really hard to get water or refills on other drinks for the guys because no one came to the table. We ordered some chicken and it was not clear how many pieces or how many people it would feed and we weren't able to ask. I guess they think that the iPads replace service.
Definitely not a classy place! It's very cafeteria-like and very loud with very poor service and not great food. Not worth the price. August 8 in Burlington is much much nicer and we will continue to go there from now on.
Until I stepped foot into Spring Sushi, I honestly hated sushi. Now whenever we decide to go out to eat, Sushi is my top choice, and only at Spring! They food is amazing, and now they have Ipad menus, so you can see what the rolls look like before you decide to try it. The place is clean, and funky decor & colors, very modern. I love the Las Vegas Roll, and can't forget about their amazing Mango Icecream! My fiance really loves the tiramisu, which is weird for a Japanese place, but they do a really good job! All in all, I recommend Spring Sushi,!
Sushi is in my top 10 foods to eat. Spring sushi is one of the best sushi restaurants in Hamilton. It is by far the best combination of food atmosphere and services. First thing you notice is the restaurant is the set up very open and you get to see the sushi being made in the front. I also love the color and the décor. The food selection is great my favorite food in the restaurant is the salmon rose very strong taste but great. The speed of the service is great as well. Once you order in the next 5-8 minutes is probably the maximum wait till you get you food. The atmosphere is not a fancy feeling to me. I feel I could go in the restaurant with shorts and slippers and not feel embarrassed while eating. If you are looking for good food, decent prices, great service, and nice causal conversions with friend I would recommend to eat at spring sushi.
Sushi has always been our comfort food. My friends and my family would go for a sushi whenever there's a reason to celebrate or to mope in distress. My friends and classmates would go for a sushi after a grueling week of exams. We used to go in Yami Sushi because of convenience(it was near Mohawk College) and since we have been going there more than 3 times, the service staff knew our faces. That place closed though because of legal issues, so on our last day of exams last week we gave Spring Sushi a try.
Spring Sushi has a very contemporary atmosphere. I think much of the renovations that were made last summer was to cater its 20-40 plus years of age patrons. The purple neon lights and benches gives the place a "diner" feel. The place looks clean and the tables are spacious enough for big and small groups.
The service was quick and we only waited for less than 10 minute interval between orders. The service staff was also friendly and catered to what we wanted and needed.
The food was also good but it wasn't as stellar compared to other posh looking Sushi places like say, August 8. When me and my friends went there the second time, the rice that they used wasn't thouroughly cooked which made the sushi somewhat "crunchy". The other dishes though were unique compared to the other sushi places that I have been to, one dish in mind is their "Mango Chicken".
The Eat all you Can Lunch and Dinner prices are pretty standard. I haven't tried the Lunch special but at $7.50 you get a good amount of food.
Overall, I find Spring Sushi to be recommendable, despite the fact the 'crunchy rice' incident. The atmosphere, the service and food is pretty decent for the price that they are asking.
I've been to Spring sushi for dinner and had a wonderful experience that I decided to invite 3 friends for their lunch special. The lunch specials cannot be beat. For $7.50 you get to choose from 2 lunch choices. My included, miso soup, salad, 2 each shrimp sushi, tuna sushi, salmon sushi and 4 pieces of shrimp tempura sushi and finally mango ice cream. My friends had miso soup, salad, salmon teriyaki, steamed rice, stir fried veggies, 3 california rolls and green tea ice cream. The food was very tasty. I have no complaints about the food, but the service was slow. We had to wait 10 minutes for our table as there were no clean tables. It wasn't overly busy, but we had to wait. Then our waitress forgot about taking our order and I had to get her. We were told that our tea would come later as there were no clean cups???? Finally, we got our miso soup and immediately the teriyaki lunch came, followed by our salad. I've always had my soup first, salad second and finally our entree. It seemed the service was lacking today. I will go back because I know the food is good and we have had good service before, but it was embarassing when you recommend a restaurant to friends and the service is bad.
Overall, the food was good but found them to be more expensive than August 8 and other places and I was a little perturbed they don't take debit (I refuse to use the no-name cash machine at the front).
Spring Sushi was abosolutley delicious! Even with the construction going on, on Upper James, the place was still packed! The service was good, very friendly and efficent, as well the food was fresh! The servers constantly were coming back to our table asking us if we needed or wanted more, i thought that was very nice because i hate having to wait around when i want another drink, or more to eat! Overall this was a good experiance and i would for sure go back!
Been there for quite a few times now, yet never disappoint me and my family.
Service are always friendly and not pushy, unlike those in downtown.
Clean, quick service with great food.
I always recommand to my friends about this sushi gem.
I have now been to spring sushi twice and to be honest they have great sushi. Full of flavor and all! The atmosphere is awesome, purple neon lights and so clean too . However I have only been coming here because Sapporo is closed for meintainence and hope it will be open soon because there is one problem with Spring Sushi that I found never changed since the first time I went. THEY GOT HORRIBLE SERVICE! It's true. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is awesome but the service is just a bit rediculous when you have to wait just about half an hour to get your first order and a very long time for other orders. The place was not busy but still the wait was as if the place was full! Wrong orders frequently came to our table and I guess our orders got sent to other tables aswell since we had to re order some of the things that we never got from our first order. Overall I love this place, it makes me feel like I am a celebrity with its fancy atmosphere and awesome sushi. I just hope that in the future they improve on their service.
I love going out for sushi, I find that Spring is a little pricy so I haven't gone in a while.... also there was vomit all over the bathroom floor the last time we went....kind of gross, someone took all you can eat a little too far.... anyways! The server was a little awkward and I had no clue what he was saying (mumbles alot), but he did the job. One complaint I have about Spring, is that they ALWAYS screw up my order. To start off we got an extra soup that we didn't order, we ordered 4 types of rolls and three of them were forgotten... that is a little ridiculous... I mean it is all written down on paper. We reminded our server after waiting for them for a half hour and he brought them out right away, I guess they were just sitting around waiting for someone to claim them? The tempura was delicious and fresh, the batter there is quite different from other places I have been to, so crisp and airy. The dumplings and mixed veggies were great, very hot and obviously prepared fresh. I ordered some spicy shrimp from the dinner menu and it was the best shrimp I have ever had... I feel strange saying that since it is an all you can eat restaurant, but it was so juicy and tender... I have been dreaming about it ever since. The sushi rolls are great looking, the food is well presented. The service needs some work, but the food is excellent.
Went here with a friend as we were looking for new places to have Sushi. My friend has dietary restrictions and was hoping for a lovely lunch of Sashimi. She was told straight out, "No! That is ONLY for dinner!" Eventually they finally said that she could have the sashimi if she didn't mind paying the dinner price, but she was not allowed to share it with me at all.
Nice service there!
A little more than halfway through our lunch they bring my a plate of california rolls and 3 of the 6 rolls have hair sticking out of them. We tell the server and she just looked at me like I had sprouted an extra head. I have long blonde hair, my friend has medium length ManicPanic blue hair. The hair in my food was short and black.
The server finally took the plate away and spoke to the "chef", then came back and asked if we wanted anything else. I said I did not want to pay for my meal, and she just looked at me again. Then she brought the bill over and they took a whole $2.00 off my friend's lunch! Not my lunch, the person who had the disgusting hair in her food, no that might have made sense after all.
I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER eat there again. I was completely disgusted!
I was very skeptical of trying this place again after they had reopened due to a fire in the kitchen. I had tried it when it first opened and i can say i was not a fan, but after the reopening i LOVED it. Their menu was revamped and the quality of their sushi improved drastically (maybe the fire was a bit of an epiphany? or just coincidence? haha). Every server there is very friendly and i found their service to be quite quick from retrieving your order slip, to refilling drinks, to bringing out your order(s). If you are a sushi lover, or want to try it for the first time, Spring Sushi is defeinately a place to dine at. Their furnishings and design is hip and very up to date with more of a modern futuristic dining experience. Their price is quite average compared to other All You Can Eat sush bars and actually find it quite cheap for the quality and quantity of Sushi you are devouring. I would reccomend this restaurant to everyone and anyone of all ages and will definately continue to dine at Spring Sushi!
I have to disagree with those inappropriate reviews that was mentioned.
Atomsphere is great and food is just FRESH, you cant ask for more for the price and quality with the price they have.
Servers are friendly and very attentive to my visits
