I can't remember what my friend ordered but sadly, my order of potpie was barely warm but worse, the beef cubes hadn't been braised with the vegetables and gravy and were hard unresisting nuggets, vegetables stringy and pastry pale. Was offered another choice - a grilled cheese sandwich of no distinction. V. disappointed because I've enjoyed afternoon tea, lunches, stellar dinners and special dining events there in the past and it's one of my favourite places to take visitors, especially around Christmas time. The service was most attentive and I appreciated the kind offer of a second order and the freebie apple strudel-like dessert. That kind of treatment is the hallmark of a restaurant trying to do its best and I appreciate this - I'll certainly go back. It was an 'off day', I trust. Unfortunately, the Coach House will be closing after the Christmas season, I'm told. Too bad.
