I have been dining at the Grey Rose for years, it is a wonderful place with kind staff but needs some serious updating, menu and decor to bring it into the new Millennia.
Excellent service. Wonderful atmosphere. Delicious well prepared and presented food. The decor is wonderfully refreshing. We will be back. It is not easy to find the quality and service that The Grey Rose gives. Recommend to everyone to try it.
A few years ago, my now husband wanted to take me to Grey Rose to propose to me. he was dressed up and, not nowing what he had in store or where we were going, I was dressed in a nice top buy had jeans on. We were at first told we could come in but then, I assume it was the manager, looked me over and then said that the restaurant was full....it had just opened for dinner service and we could see that not many tables were filled yet. I would never go back but thankfully my husband preservered.
If you're looking for a dining establishment with pretentious, arrogant management, and average food, this is the restaurant for you! Their policy is, "The customer is always wrong."
These young people came into our Restaurant on a busy evening. They were quite intoxicated. They had also picked up some french canadian danceing girls from the local stripclub. They were very rude and obnoxious. When I questioned their behaviour as a manager of the Restaurant, one of the girls got up on the table and attempted a strip performance. I asked them to leave and not come back. The one gentlman who was particularly rude apparantly wrote this review in revenge.

The Grey Rose of Hanover, what can I say, we all showed up in our regular attire and even though we were under-dressed when compared to their other clientèle, we experienced excellent and prompt service.
The Atmosphere here is one of quite elegance. The dining room has obviously been renovated recently and they chose a quite tasteful decor which only adds to the dining experience.
For dinner I ordered the Bistro Chicken, which came with assorted veggies (steamed), a bed of mashed sweet potato, and roasted portabello mushrooms with a mild goat cheese. This meal was probably the best one that I have had in at least a couple of months, everything was cooked to the correct level, and the flavours complemented each other to create a dish that definitely stands out in my mind as top notch. For dessert I ordered the chocolate caramel cheesecake, which although not being on par with the rest of the meal, was good none the less.
Overall I will give the Grey Rose a 10 out of 10. This is a restaurant that I will definitely be coming back to in the future.
We have eatin at this restaurant about 20-25 times a year for probably the last 7 years since we moved back to this area. In that time we have never had to send anything back because we were dissatisfied. We have ate at quality restaurants all over Ontario and the caliber of the food we recieve at the Grey Rose is definately on par. As we all know, some people are mean spirited and will complain about everthing, and we should take their opinions with a grain of salt.There are several restaurants out there where you are assured of having a excellent meal, and the Grey Rose is one of them. cheers
Our family celebrated Father's Day at the Grey Rose and we really enjoyed it. The salad bar certainly had a good variety, and the main course was more than sufficient. The desserts were wonderful. For the price, this was a great meal !
The area where we sat (i.e. in the front room) had a lovely, elegant atmosphere.
I believe the Grey Rose restaurant is one of Hanover's nicest restaurants and I would highly recommend it !
Don't know what some people expect but we found this place very enjoyable! Good food, excellent friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere. No, this is not like one of New York's finest restaurants but for this area it ranks near the top of the list!! Try it you'll like it!!!
I was brought to the Grey rose for mothers day brunch and was very dissapointed. Limited food items, unusual decor to say the least. Our waitress was polite, but not competent. I agree with alot of the reviews here that this IS NOT fine dining, more like a "glammed" up roadhouse, if thats what you could call the decor.
I don't know what the people are talking about giving this restaurant a bad review. It is good! The food might not be suitable for children as they can sometimes be picky but it is a great place for a nice, quiet dinner. The waitress was nice and I think she was new. She did not know a lot but the other staff made sure that there were no mistakes for our orders.
VERY dissapointed. Hanover, this is NOT fine dining, it is a FAR FAR FAR cry from it.
Stay away from this restraunt, terrible food. Will not return, ever.

Went to the Grey rose for lunch on Friday to have what we thought would be a nice meal, we were very sadly mistaken. The food here is nothing special and i could honestly make a better, fresher, tastier dish in my own home. The food here is "pub grub" standard, not fine dining at all. If this is Hanovers version of fine dining, they should close and look up the definition. Hanover needs a place with differnt tasty well prepared food, not another standard boring restraunt with nice surroundings.

A fine dining establishment should offer fine dining choices, not roadhouse classics. The grey rose needs to re think their decor, food and prices. This place is a joke. If this restraunt was in the city that we are from, it would be laughed out of town. Get the 10 year olds out of the kitchen and find a real CHEF with some imagination and inspiration.

In Toronto you would pay three times as much for less quality.

I dont know whats going on here but the Grey Rose really had the wool pulled over hanovers eyes. THIS IS NOT FINE DINING. This place is a joke. I ordered chicken which came DRY and 100% tasteless, with overboiled soggy veg and horrible plain rice. The plate was nice...
the decor in this place looks like a blind 3 year old slapped it together, peeling wllpaper, one room green , the other blue...pink tableclothes?

The owners of the grey rose need to take some of their money and stop sinking it into their house right behind the restraunt and start putting it back into the business. maybe make the food better and the decor MATCH?!
Great restaurant and great value. There are places in Toronto that cost way more than double and aren't half as good. Had striploin steak for $18 and they added 4 jumbo shrimp and 4 big sea scallops for $6.95. Elegant, contemporary atmosphere.

I have been to this place several times and will continue to go. Buffet is fab. Menu has lots of variety, frienly servers. Renovation has made the place look really great. Can't wait to go again.
