Enjoyed the decor, good service. $10 for draft beer, $17 for an over cooked burger and the unkindest cut of all, 25 cents for a glass of water. ‘ cheat me once, shame on you’.....you know the rest. Won’t be back.

Great food, painfully slow service

Food was quite tasty - we had the sausage, as well as fish tacos. French fries and curry soup were also quite tasty. Only problem was we waited about 1 hour before any food was brought out which made the whole experience much less enjoyable. Hopefully they can fix this service aspect.

Expensive, but very good!

I really like this place. I've been several times, including it being the destination of a weekend drive from Newmarket. I will definitely go back! The food is admittedly expensive, but I also think it is very good (the exception being the falafel pita I had once, which is absolutely horrible).

Great place for breakfast. We went on the Sunday of the long weekend, we got there late (noon); as the "ALL YOU CAN EAT" is only till 12:30, but the waitress informed us that there would be a 10 minute warning to go and hit the breakfast bar before it closed, and then afterwards she would simply order whatever we wanted and bring it to us. The breakfast was very nice, standard fare for breakfast, waffles, French toast pancakes, meats, and eggs with potatoes. The cooks were pleasant, and everything was made hot to order. Breakfast was 12 bucks each, and seemed worth the cost. Not sure what the menu had to offer, as we were looking for a good breakfast and were completely satisfied with the breakfast we were given.

I will be back!

This is a funky little place! The curried pumpkin soup was delicious and my wrap was very good too! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A great place for lunch. Next time I will go for dinner.

Excellent Food But Overpriced

Everyone raves about this place so I finally tried it. Had the scallop sandwich and Caesar salad. It was really good but not worth $18. Drop the prices to a reasonable level and this place would be a homerun. I think they're strategy is "the more you charge, the better people from the city will think it is".

best restaurant in huntsville :)

Me and my husband love this restaurant and always go there for our special occasions as it is on the pricey side. However it's well worth it. Always great service from the awesome staff, great coffee and drinks. and the food, omg the food is wonderful every time. I love the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and always feel welcome. I really don't get the whole "this place is too expensive" stuff. Deal with it or don't go! Sorry if you had a bad experience but I've been there a million times and have never had a reason to complain

Okay, so we stumbled on this place as we were out and about huntsville looking for a place to eat, I said hey, that place looks quaint.... well we go in, sit down, get our menus, start lookin around and notice the expensive menu that was completely vegetarian unless you spent even more money to add meat, we also notice that, hey it can't be all bad, this guy is supposed to be a celebrity chef... well it was pretty poor, if this guy is a celebrity chef, then Ive become disenchanted in televised cooking shows, so... not the best way to start off our vacation. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have poor taste and lots of money.

Place was packed...okay it was raining that night...

Place was packed...okay it was raining that night so chef Jeff was loving it. Bread rolls were the best part....although their size was ominious of the meal to come. Coudn't find the house wine....was not planning on spending $60 + for a bottle of wine when the owner is wearing shorts (even we dressed up a little as it was and evening out!) Were served a wine glass with a huge greasy finger smudge on it, but the server just gave us a bad look and silently replaced it when we asked for another glass, without any aplogy or cheerfulness. Mussells and soup arrived in good time, but then the wait began....a long time for our meals. Stopped myself from eating another roll as to not spoli my appetite. When the small bowls arrived, my $20.00 meal consisted of 3 pieorgies!!!! 3!!!! Was this an appeziter size we thought??? Nope. The risotto and rice curry were served in the same size bowls...a few spoonfuls and it was over. We all looked at each other, like....is that it? We were all still starving! I had 2 rolls and 3 piergoies for dinner. Not exactly what we expected from this buzzing roadside place. At that point we just wanted to leave as we were so disappointed. When the servers cleared our empty plates, and said "all done here" we said, ya, it doesn't take that long to eat 3 pierogies!!! so altogether, 5 small bowls, a beer, and half litre of wine, was over $200.00. This place should be called "3 Pierogies and your wallet".....it makes you wonder what "3 Guys" are living in the waterfront mansions behind the restaurant....hmmmmm. We can do the math.... So anyways, got out of there as quick as we could and back to the resort to buy a bag of chips from the front desk for dinner.

Every once in a while, you stumble on a...

Every once in a while, you stumble on a restaurant that makes the old circus saying ring true...there's a suckah born every minute. You can call me the suckah of the minute because I believed if a chef had his own television show and this same chef, let's give him a name - Jeff - opened a restaurant it would be a showplace for fine food, ambience service and value because this chef would have a reputation to uphold. Alas, this is not the case. We decided to try the place out on the way to Deerhurst, on Valentine's Day. Let's address ambience. Apart from the rustic exterior, there is none. The restroom is cold and undecorated. The tables are bare...no tablecloth, no placemat, no flowers and for the next half hour, no food. There are plenty of framed photographs of Jeff's culinary creations adorning the walls, on a scale that is truly huge, unlike the portions that arrive at the table. Oh and if you're lucky, Jeff will be holding court at the bar, signing menus for a group of youngsters, as he was on the Saturday we visited. A pity he wasn't spending his time helping out in the harried kitchen or assisting in delivering the long awaited food to the tables of impatient patrons. Then again, he might have taken some time to circulate among his guests, asking them perhaps how they were enjoyong their tiny, overpriced portions. But no, he was signing autographs and basking in the glow of stardom. Some might say excellent service can go a long way in placing a restaurant on the map, if ambience doesn't score high points. Have you ever been served by a waitress who is playing her own little strange game along the lines of 'let's see if I can serve these people for 90 minutes without ever uttering one word or making eye contact'? It's called the "I am far too good to be serving food and I am waiting to be discovered" game. She was very good at it. When finally another waiter asked in an 'Oh so bored' voice if we had enjoyed our food and was given the unexpected answer of "no" that made things interesting. I felt that if I answered "no" he might want to know why, but I was mistaken. He kept interrupting me and telling me that the reason why each of my four tiny pierogies cost five dollars was because the ingredients were so very, very expensive and concluded, what appeared to be his well rehearsed defense, with the invitation to speak to the manager. Well it appears that the manager was the head instructor of the Aloof School of Food Service in these parts, because he never bothered to stop by the table. This leaves us with food and value. I read the other reviews on this site and the ardent defenders of this establishment point to the hungry heffers in the crowd who unfairly expect super-sized portions of food. I don't think I fall into that category. When I spend 20 dollars for a plate of peirogies I don't expect to get four of them. Sorry. That's highway robbery...Highway 60 Robbery, to be exact and this is when I start to hear circus music. Four teensy weensy greasy pierogies fluffed up with a handful of wilted spinach and a few tablespoons of caramelized onions and two, because God knows we don't want to be guilty of the sin of gluttony, itsy bitsy artichoke hearts peeking shyly from under the greens appeared after 30 minutes of waiting at a bare table. Now Jeff, how do you expect your waiters to serve this overpriced dish with a straight face? Oh wait. They don't appear to smile too much. You're safe there. So there you have it folks. If you want to wait a very long time in a shrine-like restaurant for a very small portion of food which will cost you a great deal of money, served to you by the surliest wait staff you will ever encounter, then have I got a place for you...doo doo doodle doo doo dooo dooo doodle ...well you get the picture. Now, if you'll excuse me...I believe it's time for my Suckah Support Group meeting!

Great Food, Poor Service... I have dined here...

Great Food, Poor Service... I have dined here twice both times during the Breakfast hours for their Breakfast Skillet which I quite enjoy. While the food was great both times for everyone in the party (five the first time, and three the second) the service was less than desirable. The same waitress served us both times (once in Sept. 08 and once in Jan 09.) I did notice a definite lack of serving staff, and being a former server I appreciate how things can be difficult when you have too many tables. What I don't appreciate is when you feel like you are inconveniencing your server by dining at the restaurant. Every time she was at the table she rushed up and ran away as soon as possible with nothing close to a smile. A member of my party joked that she was ready to kill someone as this is how angry she looked. The first time I chalked it up to a bad day - but to have the exact same experience four months later leads me to believe this is her personality. I have yet to dine for dinner, and will at some point. I do hope for better service as the food is really outstanding.

Wonderful Flavorful Experience. Give it a try.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and we just LOVED it. We're vegetarians and were so impressed with the selection. (In most restauants it leaves you with one choice, smothered in cheese.) However here it took us quite a while to decide what we wanted because everything sounded so great! The stew I had was AMAZING! And the rice dish my husband had was FANTASTIC too! So flavorful, enticing, every bite was excellent! We went 3 weeks ago and can't get it off our our minds (we love food!) so I was looking online for any types of recipes and came across this site. I'm so surprised to see the negative reviews. I'd recommend going, relax, savor and enjoy...I can only speak for the vegetarian recipes, but they were unbelievable! Definitely going back!

Great spot!

I went to this restaurant after it was suggested to us by one of our friends who is a local of Huntsville. Our party ordered the flatbread appetizer with goat cheese, riccota and olives. It was very good but the portion was small for the $8 it cost. My main course which was a wrap with feta, basmatti rice, raisins and pesto was tasty. The Caesar salad was excellent. The $9 for this was very acceptable. The other diners had the tarlett, P'oh boy sandwich with sauce and soup/salad. All of them were very pleased with their entrees. Definitely a place to return to on our next stop in Huntsville!

Brutal and Bland

If you love clubhouse dried cajun seasoning an inch thick on all your food...then this is the restaurant for you. Calamari- why put a sauce with anything, if the sauce has no flavour...just chunky. I think it was trying to be a chutney, but not sure? Navajo breads- Covered in costco club house seasoning.. All the fish entrees, were brutal...i think they dump everything in their spice rack in the entree and hope for the best? Salmon- if you like a bowl of sugar with your salmon, then you might like this terrible dish. Tuna- covered with everything, disgusting, barely edible Halibut- bland, bland and more bland....they should try better quality fish and let the food speak for itself as oppsosed to masking the flavour with spice combinations that just don't work One person had the steak- this is your best bet for what to order....steak and potatoes were good Desserts were very good, just can't get full off apple crumble...and drinks were great and pretty much my saving grace... All together, worst $300 ever spent, will never recommend to anyone that I like....

also surprised at poor reviews. this restaurant is amazing. food is amazing. service is leisurely but everything is cooked fresh so you don't mind waiting. if you call to make a reservation they will tell you they don't take them but to call ahead. worked great for us every time. seems that the people who review this place poorly want huge portions at bargain prices and if so should shop the supersize menu at a fast food restaurant. 3 guys is for people with distinguished taste.

Went on a recommendation. never go again. Waited almost 1 hour to get starter - soup and flatbread. Couple on next table who came after us had their starter and main meal before we got our starter. Conflicting excuses from two waiters why food was late. returned flatbread(inedible) soup average. Pasta swimming in wishhy washy sauce left most of it. beef stew average at best.
