Our group of 4 attended May 24 2013. Started with one of the best ceasar salads we have had in a long time, huge fabulous prime rib with fresh horseradish and finished with an excellent crepe big enough for 4 to share! From start to finish an excellent meal served by very pleasant wait staff. We would highly recommend the Lakeside Bistro. (Holland Landing, ON)
To be fair, the wait staff tried their best considering they were understaffed for a New Years Eve event. Reservations made in advance with a set menu, which changed once inside the restaurant. Increase$. Seemed to be very unprepared, tables packed in, and 2 servers for a room of 60. Food not prepared to specifications, ie. rare prime rib came well done, few people were reluctant to eat the lobster. The 'dance' floor had to be created by moving tables and people into another location of the restaurant. Bar mixes -- questionable. Thank goodness we had a group of fun loving people to make this experience tolerable. I don't mind spending money on good food and good service. However, this wasn't one of those times for me and a number of people attending this event.
This place is always excellent, the service is good and the food is fantastic. Try the Shrimp Saganaki and the prime rib, the steak is excellent and the potatoes were amazing too. Overall it was a great meal and the atmosphere is great too. Who thought we could find such a great restaurant in Keswick :)
We haven't been here for a while and were surprised by the changes. They redid the insides to make it more cosy. They added booths and changed some of the decor. They really seem to be trying to please. After 9 years in the same place, they don't have to try very hard. The place is becoming a staple in Keswick. Their specials are good value and well prepared. Their steak special (every day) for $15 makes you not want to drive to Newmarket for that kind of meal. Their other specials (Sunday to Thursday) are also good value. They are talking about adding Deli specials to the menu later in March and opening for lunch. But that's in the future (Late March or early April)
We don't usually go out on Mother's Day, it's too much of a zoo and rarely enjoyable. This time, Mother decided we would go out early. I suggested the Keg - special Mother's Day menu $43.99 and !/2 hour drive. She preferred here - special Mother's Day menu $26.99. Food was great ( you have to ask for olives and Dills to start) and includes great garlic bread with balsamic and olive oil dip. Portions were large - next table ordered Prime rib and got what looked like a small cow. Porkloin was done perfectly, covered the plate and had a great sauce. Mother ordered the steak with shrimp, medium rare, but unfortunately only got steak, medium to medium well. Since it was great, she ate it anyway and took half home for late night snack. Meal included dessert for Mom and it was great - choice was 8 items and was delicious.
What a fantastic party we had at the Bistro saturday night the food and service is out standing thanks to all the people who helped made our night the best.
We were greeted by a charming man, who brought us to our table . Our enchanting servers provided us with knowledge about the variety of cocktails available and the finer points of the menu. At the Bistro they use only local veggies and potatoes, every meal is made to order. We celebrated in style and left completely satisfied. Casual elagance and country charm. We all agree we will be back to the bistro every chance we get.
I have been dining at this Bistro for a long time the owners are very nice, the food and service is excellent , the two bad comments that were maid by creeps and the kesw they were girls that were asked to leave, as they were being disrespectful, you will not be disappointed it is a must try!
The food at this restaurant is actually the best that ive had ever. But the service was the worst ever. The waitress's were great, but the waiter was the rudest,most ignorant person that I've ever met. I cant believe that he is working with the public.I do believe he is family. If this restaurant goes out of business it will be purely on the fact that someone that acts like that should not be working with the public. I will not ever be back unless I hear that HE has been fired!
We had a great time at the Bistro when we went and saw Chad Slade play.....we danced all night and had a great time. The food and drinks were awesome. We have been there since and will be back again. Great Place!
I went to the Bistro for the first time with my inlaws, I wanted to take them somewhere nice and I heard that the bistro was a good place to go. I was pleased from the time I walked in to the time I left. My inlaws live in the city and said that you can't get service or food like that in the city and at the prices too! We all had something different, I tried the chicken mediterainian and it was amazing, the portion was huge. My husband had the rib steak & shrimps, he said it was done perfectly. The waitress was wonderful, very happy and helpful when we had questions about the menu. The manager came to our table just to make sure everything was going well and to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. This was the first restaurant I have been to that you get what you pay for when you order a glass of wine. Their house red wine was great and for the price I couldn't beleive that they actually filled the glass to the top! Overall our experience was great, nice place to take the inlaws ;) they were very impressed. We have gone back many of times since then and have always been happy!
One of the best restaurants I have been too in years. I took my daughter there when Chad Slade was playing a few weeks back. We had an amazing time... The music was awesome and food even better. Our waiter was very polite and on top of things, I didn't have to worry about pouring my own wine, or asking for water, he was there at the right times. I was speaking to a couple that sat beside us and they have been going to the restaurant for many years and come in at least once sometimes twice a week for dinner, they love it, the atmosphere, food & the great service. Everyone is well dressed and pleasent. I especially appreciate that the food was extreamly fresh and you could tell never frozen. Oh and the Tartufo to finish off our night was to die for. Thanks Bistro for a great time.... and many more to come!
The food was very enjoyable. I also ordered the "catch of the day" and it was perfect. The staff are great and made us feel right at home. We will be back for sure. My husband had Steak Neptune which was to die for.
I am embarrassed to say that I gave this restaurant three chances, the first visit was during the summer, service was horrible and the food was worse, but it wasn’t busy so I thought, well maybe it was a bad night… The second time, service was prompt but the food was mediocre… Since it’s Keswick and there are not many places to eat and it’s close to home I thought, okay one more chance…well I will never go back… The service sucks, I don’t know what her name was but she was rude and was more interested in talking to the other server than taking our order. I got the catch of the day, which obviously was frozen and not fresh…I asked for my food a certain way and when it came and I tasted it, I sent it back, the fish was horrible and very salty, not to mention the scallops were cold…the fish had an odd taste and just didn’t taste right, when I told her this she looked at me like I was stupid… They took the food away she told me the kitchen said it was fine, I didn’t argue I just sat there and as she looked at me…I said I will be fine, not to worry I will eat when I get home… Sorry forgot to mention the bread they gave us was I think from the month before and I might have chipped a tooth… Well it wasn’t taken off the bill I wasn’t offered any desert and no manager came to apologize… Disgusting… The ambiance is old and dated and I think they need a good old fashioned visit from Gordon Ramsey and the Kitchen Nightmares show… I can’t wait till this place goes out of business and someone else comes in!!!
We went on a Tuesday evening~ it wasn't busy. Service was prompt, friendly and polite Food was very good and well enjoyed~ my husband ordrered the prime-rib, it was the best he's had in a long time and I enjoyed the "Catch of the Day"- all items were cooked to perfection and completed with some very yummy "Boston Cream Puffs" The restaurant was very nice~ I'm sure we'll be back.
When we arrived, no one came to seat us for a good seven minutes, so we were left standing at the front door while the wait staff were serving customers and walking around. When we ordered, my husband is allergic to seafood and his soup which came with his meal had a seafood base, so we just asked if they could substitute it for an onion, tomato or whatever else they had, but our waiter was adament that there was no substitutions. They had several different soups on the menu, so I thought this would be a no brainer - but we even asked if he could ask the chef - but again he was adament and stated no substitutions. All four of us at our table were appauld and "discussed" this situation with the waiter, but he would not budge. Our meals then came after waiting an extended period of time. Overall the food was pretty good, but none of us would ever go back. It's really too bad that for the price of a bowlof soup, they have lost four customers - and I am sure more, aswe have not been shy about our experience. Who else would want to go through that?
Recogninzing that it was a Friday evening I still found it unacceptable to wait 30 minutes to have our drink order taken and a further 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Bread was not brought to our table until after our drinks arrived. The manager was not only unfriendly but bordere on rude when taking our our orders as if we were imposing on him. We finally ate almost two hours after arriving and the food was very un-inspiring. Overcooked shrimp (cut into pieces to make them go further) two scallops, two shelless mussles and some very overcooked calamari on top a bowl of soggy pasta made up my dish. A three hour experience best not remembered.
Service was good, for the price I was very unhappy with the chicken breast - very tuff! Likely would not go again.
when i first got there the service was a little bit slow, but as the night progressed and place got a bit busier and the staff quickly kicked it up a notch and the srevice improved tremendously. The food was immmaculate. the presnetation was wonderful and the entertinment was more than enjoyable. Every bite of the rpime rib was like an end cut, cooked to perfrction. to top it all of the friendly staff made the night an enjoyable experince. I would defenatly go there again.
I have been here twice at this location and at the other location. The food is superb, this service is great. The pricing is very good also.
