Ate in restaurant first time. Food was amazing. Service was great, except it was very hard to hear the server due to dining area was extremely loud. Could not carry on a conversation with my boyfriend because of the 8 people next to us. We will be returning though. Looking forward to enjoying some more of your amazing food.

Ordered meat and vegetable lasagnas for wedding rehearsal dinner and they were delicious. All guests thought I was an excellent cook. I did not take credit and did explain that they were from Pasta Shelf. Thank you for the great service. Miche

I come here all the time, for take out or to stay. It's a great place, I always feel welcome, it's always a lovely time...whether at at home or when we dine in. Highly recommended!

i have never eaten in their dining room to be honest, so my service and atmosphere ratings are not that well backed. BUT the food is great, nice fresh sauces, reasonable prices and yummy food. i am not able to eat carbs anymore, but if i were this is where i would visit first. not portentous just good food at a good price.

Fresh Pasta Never tasted better

This is the first restaurant i tried when I moved to Kingston about 5 years ago. It came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The food is reasonably priced with decent sized portiones. I love to take it home, as well as the option to build your own pasta. The owner is in house from open till close everyday (that they are open) and greets almost all customers. I have never had a bad meal and feel welcome every-time I enter

This is absolutely one of the best restaurants in Kingston. You get homemade pasta and homemade sauce. The menu's you get are takeout menu's so you can take them home with you. They also have baked meals ready for you to pick up after work where you just pop 'em in the oven, you can also do take out. On top of that, you can also buy the ingredients! It is a real shame that their appearance isn't as inviting as it should be. Most people tend to think this place is not a restaurant, rather just a grocery store. The location is secluded but I wish they'd open one downtown. Seating ... there isn't a lot but I've never really found this to be a problem yet... and parking... as with the seating.. again, never really a problem. I frequently order the Tour of Italy. I think every time I go, it gets a little bit better. Very very good. I've taken many people to the Pasta Shelf, my ex, coworkers, friends, etc... everyone loved it. From hearing from friends, I can tell you the sandwiches are excellent, the chocolate cake is to die for and the regular pasta dishes are very good. Another lovely bit is the fact that they give you a massive slab of THICK garlic bread to soak up all that leftover sauce. You will leave, very full.. and your wallet will be happy... To put it in perspective: a tour of italy is: a large plate with: spaghetti and meatballs, cheese cannelloni, chicken parmigiana and that slab of garlic bread.. all for about 13 bucks. And if you go at lunch, you pay a little less but I heard the portions are smaller. The service.. is good, but not the best. They are warm and helpful. But sometimes they feel a bit distant and uncaring.. There is no excuse why you shouldn't check this place out.

I've been dining here since it opened 10 years ago. Marco, the owner, continues to improve the restaurant and it is clean and comfortable. The pastas are delicious... as a vegetarian I can always find a few vegetarian options to choose from. The salads are fresh and crisp. The garlic bread could be improved as it does tend to be dry. Desserts are fantastic. Not overly expensive for good, freshly-prepared food!

Alright, nor amazing

Firstly, this is really a take out place, we pulled up at around 6 and it was dead, so we at first thought it was closed, but they weren't. They have tables, but they close down pretty early as well, so if you are eating a bit later plan to bring it home. I ordered the daily special (Spaghetti /w Chicken Breast) and my brother ordered Lasagna. The wait wasn't too bad, about 10-15 min, brought the food home, and we were underwhelmed based on the reviews here. The food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't the best Pasta/Italian I'd ever had. I'll possibly try it again since the prices were fairly reasonable.

After reading the reviews here we thought we would give it a try - my husband loved it - he thought the veal compared to truffles! My dish was very disappointing. The server seemed to wish she was somewhere else. not very attentive and bored to tears. The placed had a steady stream of take-out customers, which does make me think that there is more to this place then met my eye and may be worth another look.

my first time - menu looks very appetizing- after much time spent looking at the menu and not knowing what to get, I ordered the pasta special which was rigatoni with tomato sauce and meatballs. Three tiny meatballs - too much pasta and garlic bread was dry and hard. I did get it for take out since work is 2 minutes away. Not impressed but will go back to try again.

The Best in Town

This place is special to us. We go every Friday, we meet friends and we eat very well. Everything is homemade, the staff is wonderful and of course Marco makes a point of saluting every customers. It is like a family....

I often get take out and have not dined in but a very cozy atmosphere welcomes you! I have ordered their lasagne and rigatoni with meatballs family size with their caesar salad and treated the staff. It was terrific and now we shop there regularly! It is great for pot luck parties when you want a homemade cooked meal but haven't time to prepare one. I have recommended the Pasta Shelf many times and will continue to do so as it was recommended to me!!!!!!!

Amazing pasta!!!!!!! Being Italian, I can't stand bad pasta sauce. This place makes all its own pasta and sauces and they're delicious. Good sized portions, which is good because a pasta dish is about $10. Every plate comes with a big piece of garlic bread too. Yum!!!!!!!

I have to be honest, we have not dined in yet, however we frequently get take-out. It is always fresh and delicious. Portion sizes and price are outstanding. My only complaint is, I wish they stayed open a little later. But, if it keeps the staff happy and the food and service quality high...so be it.
