Lovely presentation, excellent food and staff very willing to accommodate special needs of customers.

Not very good

Calamari missing under all the batter and served with strange thick creamy concoction. Coconut shrimp good but dipping sauce bad. Ribs OK but chicken wings overdone and dry. Took a long time for appetizers to arrive but that was because they wanted to bring our main course minutes later! So there we were, happy to finally get our food but we were now watching our main course chilling before our eyes. My soft drink was not refilled while I was eating. I turned down a refill that was offered when we asked for the bill. Still, if the food had been good, I would have been happy to return but it was not.

GOOD VALUE, GREAT MEAL

We gave this upscale eatry another shot and I'm glad we did. The decor and menu are 'Milestonish' The half chicken was perfect - lots of veggies perfectly cooked. the chicken fajitas were hot and fresh. The only meal that disappointed was the penne with meatballs -- a little dry and overcooked. The taste of lemon cake was devine! Decor and service were both outstanding.

Long time patron and fan

One of my favorite places to eat in London. Food is varied and they change up thier menus from time to time to reflect some seasonal foods especially in the desserts (fresh berry/fruit dishes) Everyone we take there is impressed with the food and atmosphere. It is not a family rest. but we have taken our children there and never been concerned about the behaviour of the patrons even though they do push the drinks... I havent been for a while now, but look forward to visiting there again soon.

gone downhill

Use to be regulars. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, service and the price was right. Since they changed their decor and the addition of another restaurant nearby, they have gone downhill big time! Their menu has changed for the worst, the quality of their service and food has gone downhill and the value is terrible. Prices have been jacked up. Makes no sense. Haven't been back and no intention to do so.

I have been a long term patron at McGinnis as i have both lived by and moved from the area in my 15 years in London. I eat there on average 3 times a month and I am never disappointed.. my wife would agree.. I was shocked to see the reviews as in my experience- although things are sometimes not perfect in restaurants - I will agree that service is awesome there- and food is excellent. Quality has never been better- to the writers on the reviews- are you sure you were at the right restaurant? I have never seen striploin on the menu? never seen beef stirfry and to be honest- In the veggie and chicken stirfry I find sometimes too MUCH veggies/chicken and not enough noodles! The menu revolves around a small (7-8 item ) feature page and a main menu with the staples... not a big menu at all???? The desserts are all made fresh by there chef at the restaurant... I am not a big sweets person but i can say that my wife is and she orders a dessert every time.. loves it!! They haven't had kids night in about 7 years or so and if I am correct on this and I would love to find out - the comfort for famillys, singles, couples is all around balanced.. the decor is extra nice but i think it pairs with the extra special service and some of the best food quality and value in the city...maybe you were dining somewhere else?

NICE ATMOSPHERE.....

The atmosphere is lovely at this place -- chic, sleek, modern....too bad to service and food didn't follow. We waited for over 15 minutes just for water and our food for over 30 minutes. Once the food did arrive it everything looked great. The fish and chips were pump and crisp and fries were golden. The trouble was with the chicken which was dry and over cooked. the vegtables were undercooked, tough and obviously NOT fresh. The stir-fry was overloaded with too many noodles and not enough beef. The wait for the bill was almost as bad as the wait for the food. Return? maybe but they have to either serve great bar food or great upscale food -- not something in between.

I have been coming to the Landing for many, many years. The newer decor is nice, service is still great but what, WHAT has happened to the food??? It was never a 5 star, but always a 4 and now a 2 star. SO disappointed in the kitchen. Have food costs gone up that much that quality coming out is so low? The menu has all changed, it is too large now. Tonight was a special night, we wanted to have a great time... but my steak came out cold, overcooked, underseasoned and every bite was fatty. The servers could clearly see I was struggling with it and another cut of meat was offered. My first NY strip steak was 1cm thick if that and inedible, no tenderness at all. The mashed potatoes - bland. Veggies - a mix of diced tomato and zucchini? No thanks. Dessert, disappointing, overpriced and tasted so processed. All I can do is sigh when I think about the money wasted. This place will not stay open just because the atmosphere is nice (minus the screaming kids and babies - is Tues kids' night?) I did mention the service was very good and I will stand by that - but I have nothing else postive to say about this eatery.

Had a great time here tonight with my friends but mostly with the staff. Unbelievable experience as the place was really busy and upbeat. The server that I had Andrew spent great quality time with us and recommended some great dinners that we thoroughly enjoyed. My wife had a stirfry which she loved - cooked perfectly and on the healthy side- I had a salmon dinner- can't even remember what our friends had, we were there for the longest time taking in the night. They even had a young server singing opera for a guest which threw us off at first because we didn't know where the sound was coming from, but we were impressed. Great clientele- (we are in our mid-50's) and felt young just being there- menu had something for everyone. I had been there many many years ago and have since moved across town- but will plan on making this a regular haunt. Our friends had been there recently and knew about the upgrades to the decor and knew some of the staff that were around- they tell us it is always fun to be there- is nice to see in a summer month a restaurant being flush with guests and great food. One thing that caught me by surprise was the decor by the front windows, treatment was great- but dividers didn't seem to blend overall- also, bathrooms were not really clearly marked- but overall wonderful night.

I do not usually hit roadhouse style franchises, and not even sure how I ended up here, but was a little surprised. I did not know they had renovated, and while it was a little too bright for my liking and the music a little loud, I thought that it looked much better than what I had expected. Booths were comfortable. Service was so so- friendly enough, but she did not know a lot about the menu. As apps, the chicken tenders were really good, potato skins, not so much, but I am not sure why people still have those as menu items- seems so 80's doesn't it? Entrees were excellent and plentiful- salmon was tender and the thai stir fry, while not having much chicken, was loaded with veggies. Skipped desserts, but they were presented well and looked good.

Good classic restaurant. You pretty much can't go wrong. Prices are fair, portions are fairly big. Beware of Kid's night (i think it's on tuesdays).

BEST food and service in the city- have a friend...

BEST food and service in the city- have a friend who goes there often and always tells us to go by and have dinner.. but busy with our kids and work..decided tonight to go in and enjoy some family time and things were excellent. Our server Heidi was very pleasant, the kids thought she was great fun. Our dinners were timely and hot- everything was great. Will suggest to our friends who want to have a fun night out with their kids and at a reasonable price.

I eat here all the time and love it! I often have the blackened salmon, seafood citrus pasta and rib dinners and I am never disappointed. The best day to go is All You Can Eat Ribs on Wednesdays! The servers are always very accomodating and the updates and renos are so trendy. On this particular event we had a larger group and some had never been before and were very impressed! Go--- you will not leave disappointed!!

Best Eatery Ever! Went out for a Christmas party with some staff from work on a Wednesday night- expecting, some quiet average night and got a fun-filled, booming night, full of energy and great service. Our server (can't remember her name) due to the cocktail list.. was outstanding- everytime we needed something she was there- I had been before (often go bi-weekly with my family) but several friends had not and were amazed@! at the new decor and style. Our meals were all great- food was perfect. We stayed for hours and were treated like family by the time we took off and were promptly welcomed back next time by the hostess who gave us all $5 off our next dinner!! what a nice night out- thanks from the staff at Wiley!!

You Do not Want to Go There

First of all, we had to wait for 45 minuets out side of the restaurant to get table while we already reserved a table for 8 people. The quality of the food was not good. MY lasagna was supposed to come with beef but it barely had any. The price of the food was expensive for that quality. my friend did not like their fries. My caesar salad had barely parmesan cheese.

Had not been in many years and decided to get a late dinner on Sunday. I was amazed at the decor changes, wow what a wonderful ambience. The lounge area looked like a great place to sit back relax and have a few cocktails, I also enjoyed sitting next to the glass enclosed fireplace. Damien our server was excellent, very professional and wonderfully attentive. The menu was rather large and found myself stuck to make a decision, portions were very large for the price. Enjoyed the wonderful flavours of my meal and look forward to trying more of your menu items.Will definitely be back and thank you for a lovely evening.

We USED TO drive out of our way to enjoy a wonderful evening dinner, as we both had our favourite dish that kept bringing us back. WHY'D YA GO AND CHANGE THINGS FOR?? Yes the decorating sceme is new, whoopty-do,,,now you'll never see us again cuz the only thing on the new menu we could see to order were Burger's. Definitely NOT somewhere you want to take a date for a nice weekend dinner.

We came in for dinner for a friends birthday. I was told that this place was not very good by some friends but I wanted to check it out for myself. The waiter was great! Everything we ordered tasted amazing and the portions were great. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I will return!
