Well, this was the worst experience ever. I brought my wife there for her birthday and it was a complete disappointment. We ordered the ultimate platter for 2 and it came with 2 filets, jumbo shrimp, scallops, big lobster tails (these are the worse ones and should have gotten the smaller better quality ones) and crab legs. The fillets were tasteless, cold and very dry....dry just like chewing on Kleenex. The scallops were also tasteless. Not sure what to say as I was shocked especially when our entire bill was $300 which included a bottle of wine. When one spends this much money for a dinner of two, I would expect to enjoy my meal.
We go to a steakhouse once a month and tried many in the GTA and this is the worst of all for food. Never again.
Love this place!
We always have a great time here.
I'll start with how unbelievable the decor is! If you want to see the ultimate retro steakhouse, with STUNNING decor, you must check it out. The website does not do it justice. We've seen people do wedding pics in the foyer, which is only 1/100 the size of the place. For an open-concept two-story hall-sized place, each table feels very private. There is a huge amount of stained glass, tiffany-style lamps, art-nouveau style sculptures, old-world style paintings and a lovely dark-wood atmosphere.
Service is impeccable. Everyone is efficient and knowledgeable and helpful. It's rare to see such excellent training and personal dedication.
Food is delectable. Excellent steaks, wine and everything is so nice.
Don't forget to visit the piano player, if you can get into the bar. He's a great latin-styled player, great to dance to and very charming and professsional. The bar servers are so kind and charming.
Highly recommended for a big date night! So romantic!
I have been here many times over the years, and I find it to be consistently excellent. The atmosphere is great and the waitstaff is always helpful and attentive. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and the shrimp cocktail is superb. I would recommend this impressive place to anyone who would like a good steak. The piano bar is also very nice.
I don't know why this restaurant advertises so much for new customers when you're treated like you're disturbing them by coming into the restaurant. The staff feel like their doing you the favour by letting you have dinner at their place. THIS IS NOT FINE DINING. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER OLD STYLE GREEK STEAKHOUSE ON IT'S LAST LEGS WITH RUDE WAITERS. If you're a desperate person who doesn't know where to eat and don't mind being treated like garbage, this is the place for you.
My husband and I are both doctors and do very well for ourselves. We have fine dining at least 3 times a week.
We have been here before for dinner and the service was terrible. We thought to give this place another chance, and realized what a mistake this was.
When we first came into the restaurant and told the hostess we were here for our reservation, she told us to wait over to the side and someone would seat us. We waited 10 minutes, she looked at us and went over to the "headman" and was chatting with him for 5 minutes without informing him that we were waiting to be seated. After my husband asked them why we were waiting, the headman said he had no idea why we were there and seated us at our table. The restuarant was practically empty on a Saturday night. Then the waiter came over to take our drink order and bolted before we could finish telling him what we wanted. He came back with the drinks and took our order. When we gave him our appetizer order, and we told him we had not decided on our main yet, he got offended that we were taking too long. We were ready to get up and leave. We had no idea this was a fast food restaurant. We requested another waiter and indicated to the new waiter that the other waiter was rude. The original waiter came over and defended himself to us and said he wouldn't bother us anymore. He admitted that he was rude. We won't go back. There are several other restaurants in the city that appreciate the business.
Well to start off,I thought the staff was indifferent ,like they didnt really care one way or another that you were there. I agree with another reviewer that the waiters should write down your order. They got a few things wrong and gave it to the wrong people. We had brought our own birthday cake and they must of almost dropped it, because it had shifted to one side. As far as atmosphere goes. It seemed too overcrowded and noisy for me.Now lets get to the food,I found the food to be great, large portions and very tasty, no complaints there. My wife and I are going again tonight for our 23rd aniversary. If we have the same experience again it will probably be our last visit
I've eaten here a few times with friends and ordered different things but I still never found the food to be delicious. The place itself is absolutely stunning and unique but the food was not delicious yet it was very expensive
After reading the below review, i am shocked at the comments made. I visit La Castile frequently, and i must say that it is the best steakhouse in town. I come here with my family and bring my clients here all the time.
On my last visit.I too ordered the platter and my experiences are as follows:
The Salad which comes with your meal, is free-which at every other restaurant you will be paying 12 dollars for- It is a crispy mixed greens salad with a selection of a few dressing choices. It was excellent.
The pickle tray which also comes with your meal, includes crispy pickles, butter balls to be used with you baked potato later in your meal, and creamy cottage cheese- This is a old world steakhouse, doing things very traditionally, which the other reviewer failed to recognize-
The baked potato which also comes with you meal and is not at an extra charge-where anywhere else you are paying $6 for ,as well as veggies which also comes with you meal-were all great.
The platter included 2 filet mignon, lobster tails, scallops, giant shrimp, with veggies and your side. EXCELLENT VALUE. Excellent meal.
And the garlic bread at this restaurant is delicious. The other review is hilarious..you need to go experience this restaurant bc its great.Anyone that has been here knows that the value you receive you will not experience at another place.
Also i should mention that the ambiance is absolutely beautiful.
My girlfriend and I went here for our 5th anniversary; the food, staff and atmosphere were all top notch. We had a great time, and I recommend La Castile for special occasion! The entree portions were perfect (considering we nearly filled up on the tasty garlic bread).
If you are looking for excellent food, excellent service, one of a kind atmosphere, come here.
After reading the below review, i can only imagine that this person has no idea what they are talking about. They are in business and have been for over 40 years for a reason. I am a regular customer and i must say that this one of a kind family business has been commended by the city of Mississauga and Toronto alike, for a reason.
Great job La Castile. I cant wait to return.
If this is what you call fine dining then the owner of this place had FOOLED many people over the years and has obviously become a very rich person.
Let me list the experience me and my significant other had:
1) Service = waiters = terrible
2) Food was not as good as I thought it would be... NO PRESENTATION AT ALL.
3) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY.. NO INVESTMENT MADE ON SIMPLE THINGS LIKE PLATES, FORKS, GLASSES, LIGHT BULBS BURNT OUT.
4) We ordered drinks and they never came..
5) It looked more like a production house rather then a cozy, comfortable atmosphere.
6) The best part. This night out cost me $350.00. And many months later I am still trying to figure this one out.
We enjoyed the food, especially the garlic bread...
We enjoyed the food, especially the garlic bread. The caesar salad was OK. The prime rib was huge, especially for a small portion, but it was cooked perfectly. The veal parmigiana was also a huge portion, but pretty good as well. We were seated on an upper level, which was nice, but we found it to be a little too dark. The service was not the greatest - when we ordered our favourite plonk, you could practically hear the waiter frowning and sighing. Another gentleman came by to refill our water glasses often, which was nice.
I do agree with other reviews that this place is a bit pretentious. I was expecting top-notch service and a fine dining experience, but as we left, a group of high-school-aged kids went in, and most of them were wearing jeans (which I wouldn't have thought was acceptable).
While this isn't relevant, I thought it was funny - at other tables, there were a couple of sugar daddies with their dates... young enough to be their own children, LOL. This must be the place to go when you want to impress someone...
i had an amazing time, the staff was great, the food was great, the whole atmosphere was fantastic, i would go there again and again, in fact im going there again with my boyfriend, it will be his first time and im very excited. i also loved the piano bar-AMAZING
A great place to enjoy a delicious meal, and one of a kind decor. La castile certainly impressed us. The service was wonderful, and the i do not believe i have eaten a better steak. Overall wonderful, old world style.
