Service was great, but decor was outdated. Old tablecloths, cheap carpet, cramped seating. Patio, however looked pleasant but the weather did not allow us to sit outside. Unfortunatley. I ordered the osterich burger well done. It came out rare. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good meal. Being from out of town we did not know its reputation.
This wonderful cozy little bistro boasts great views of lake Nipissing, especially when dining on it's large patio. Inside, a slightly dated decor is evident but the bistro still maintains a charming atmosphere. The young chef supports local farmers which is always nice to see. Appetizers include; roasted pumpkin risotto, steamed mussels with ale and bacon, and the warm Camembert with honey roasted apricots was perfectly baked and flavourful yet begged for some toasted walnuts to add texture to the dish.
The ricotta, spinach and pumpkin stuffed chicken supreme with brown butter sage cream sauce was perfectly cooked, tender, and delectable. The grilled beef sirloin was slightly over cooked and under seasoned but was saved by the rosemary blue cheese butter and caramelized onions. Roasted potatoes were delicious. Service was slightly slow due to understaffing but exceptional at best.
I like the White Owl and go there often for lunch or supper. At lunch last time I had the turkey burger with the cranberry salsa and I thought it was quite good. Their crepes are amazing - not too sweet, lots of fruit and whipped cream. Enough for 3 of us to share for dessert. My friend loved her Thai chicken salad .... Our waitress was very happy and efficient. Her mood rubs off on you! I think the prices are good when you consider the cost of quality ingredients.... not a lot of mixes or cheap pie fill going down here
A great dining experience. The service was excellent. The food was perfectly cooked and plentiful. We will return as we are frequent visitors to North Bay.
Your Staff was excellent with each meal we went to. We were very impressed with Sherry, who was excellent. She was kind, caring and knew how to serve people. The out door patio was our favorite and the live music on our last night was a real treat. Thank you again to Sherry and to all the Staff at the White Owl Bistro for making our holiday very special! Thank you also goes out the Chef for his exquisite peroration of all dishes. I wish we could have known his name.
The food was quite good, except the sorbet was unexpectedly more like a granita. Our chief complaint is that the chairs were horribly uncomfortable. They were too high for the table and instead of a leisurely, lovely meal we all left with sore backs. Too bad I'll remember the pain more than the food.
We were 16 in the party at ages ranging from 11 to 78. The staff were very good in producing the wine (properly served) and the kitchen did well to produce the food, all at the same time. From the remarks I heard, all patrons were very happy with the food and the service. An excellent meal.
We ate lamb and quail and everything was outstanding. One of the coziest, friendliest, yummiest places you can eat in N. Bay. My only regret was because of the season, the beautiful outdoors bar was closed.

This is a must "go to" if in North Bay. This quaint 40 seat Bistro offers atmosphere and food like no other. The location is outstanding, right on Lake Nipissing. The dinner was fabolous....Chicken Supreme and dessert were cooked to perfection. They have a beautiful outdoor patio which we were told have live music sometimes in the summer. I can't wait to go back and get treated like royalty again.
Chef Ren? made imaginative dishes. Everything was perfect, the presentation, the blend of savour. We had a wonderful dinner much more than we had expected, keeping in mind that we travel a lot in Europe, Montreal and Quebec City, being gourmet travellers.

Some of my guests orded the stuffed pasta with shrimp and spinage which again disappointment.
