I go to Not Just Dim Sum very often - I'm probably one of their two or three most regular customers (I've beem there 3-4 times a week, for the past couple of years). The reason why I keep going back is the fresh food (all the ingredients are fresh, excellent service, generously healthy portions, and the affordable prices, not to mention that the tasted of the food is excellent. I work across the street in the office tower, and I can tell you that when we have a company lunch or an employee lunch, our team members vote on where we go. Since we discovered Not Just Dim Sum, we have almost always unanimously chosen to go there time after time. It is popular with the people who like genuine Chinese cuisine (like me) and those who like some Canadian-style Chinese food.
Some of the dishes I highly recommend are in the "what did you order" section above. They also have a nice selection of soups and I'd recommend the hot and sour soup as well as the seafood soup. If you are a vegetarian (as some of my colleagues are), there are lots of choices and healthy portions of veggies done in a variety of ways. When I say healthy portions, I mean that. I never leave there feeling hungry.
The staff are friendly, attentive and really make sure that the customer is taken care of. Not just with my own experience, but when I see others coming in, the servers are quick to greet, take drink and appetizer orders, provide extra napkins, take away dishes, etc. It's a great team there. They always take time to talk with me, joke around, etc.
The manager of the restaurant is a very nice guy, he will come around and say hi to all the patrons and ask how things are, etc. I think his personable nature really makes the customer feel valued and it is refreshing to see a restaurant manager who takes an interest in his/her patrons.
The washrooms are spacious and comfortable (at least the men's one - I've never been in the women's one - which is a good thing).
Of course, as this is a review, I will temper the good points with some areas of improvement. I would say that one area that would be possible expansion, since it is very busy on Fridays at noon and even at 1:30, I may not get a spot (and I've seen others walk away when it's too busy). While this is a testament to the quality of the food and restaurant, with it being packed every week, more space would be welcome (of course, this is tough, as they are in a corner location and so expansion is difficult.
In summary, I would give Not Just Dim Sum my highest recommendation. You won't be disappointed when you go there, and if you're like the many people who have been there, you'll go back again and again.
