My wife and I have been buying take-out from this tiny place at least monthly for many years. Food quality is FAR better than at the two steam-tray buffets nearby. I agree with previous reviewer Gary that the Hunan spicy beef and cantonese chow mein are excellent and are frequent choices for us, as are the Yi Shueng spicy beef and ginger chicken.
The highlight for us is their hot & sour soup, which is the standard against which we measure all other versions of this dish (and so far none have measured up). We live 5 minutes away, but would drive a lot farther to get that soup.
Portions are generous. Two bowls of soup plus two mains will do us a dinner plus lunch for about $40.
THEE best Chinese Food in Ottawa...we moved from South Keys but still go back from Kanata to get the best food ever. The eggrolls are the best we have eaten ... we have ordered here since it opened and prior to that at Ruby Inn where the owner worked before. Good to see that the new owners have kept up the quality and service.
Great food for a little take out place. My order was prepared quickly and even though I had a 5-7 minute walk back to my place, it was still piping hot. As far as it being pricy, I paid $11 (and tax) and my combo plate did me for two meals.
The egg roll was a bit over done, burnt on the ends and dry inside. Also, the plum sauce came out of the container in one lump (it was still good, though).
They might want to spruce up the wainting area a bit and provide more magazines, but it's a take-out place, what more can one say?
