I'm responding to Shalaine W's review (in quotations below)
"Review: I love The Only Cafe. The food is excellent, the patio is beautiful, and although it may take some time for your meal, it's definitely worth the wait. You may think the staff is rude, and unwelcoming, but they are a very nice bunch of people. Be nice to them, respect them and be respected."
I agree, the food is good and the patio is fantastic.
I think Shalaine W may have the respect thing backwards. I've been a regular at The Only for a couple of years, to this day I am still not greeted when I enter and am often met with a dirty look. I have never been drunk, rude or abusive in any way
to the staff or other customers. I'm never anything but pleasant and I always tip well. Some of the treatment I've received at The Only borders on abuse. I've been spoken to, by members of the staff
with extreme sarcasm and even had one of the staff literally throw my change at me(hitting me in the chest) - to the shock of myself, my friend that was with me that evening and other nearby customers. You may think I enjoy the abuse, believe me I do not! I continue to go to The Only because I love the patio, the World's Best sandwich is very good, some of the clientele are enjoyable, the bohemian atmosphere of the café itself and other than the way I'm treated by the staff, I feel comfortable there.
Shalaine W, as I stated above, I'm nothing but pleasant to the staff and treat them in a respectful manner. The respect has almost never been returned. Really, shouldn't the customer be treated
with respect simply because he or she is a customer?
To the staff: If you think you're cool, you're probably not.
