First I was there very recently, Wednesday 24 September and it was early 5p.m. So I guess that meant my guest and I were only eligible for the "less-popular" tables beside the bar. The whole restaurant was empty and we were sat at a table that was not the best by the hostess. Second, the pot lights above our table apparently are a tricky thing to master by the wait-staff. they were fiddling with them frequently dimming them brighter then lower, when finally I asked if they could leave them off please because it was annoying us, and way too bright if left on. You think someone would pay attention to the only table it was affecting but no.... Thirdly seasoning salt as a rim on a Caesar is not appealing at all, use Caesar rim. It is a Caesar remember. Fourth, for 9.99 I expected a lot more calamari in my order, then the small portion I received. Fifth, my vegetables were laughable at best with my entree. I literally received a quarter of a zucchini cut in half and a third of a red pepper cut into strips. My stuffed sole had way too much thyme leaves on the top but at least it wasn't dried out like the other times I've had it there. My guest didn't comment on the warm chicken salad so I can't write about it.. My server was bold and completely impatient. The restaurant is empty, where do you have to get to? A more pressing appointment perhaps?!? Seriously, if she told me to "think about it I'll come back" one more time I was going to scream. And then at the end of our meal she hands me my take home container so I can pack up my food myself and take it to go! That is the most tackiest thing a server can do, at ANY restaurant!!! I've been serving my whole life in many different restaurants and many different cities so granted my standards may be high, but when one goes to a restaurant who boasts an Ann Hardy recommendation of "Where To Eat In Canada" that restaurant better be spectacular from top to bottom, and beginning of service to the end, and sadly Gran Festa was not. It was not worth the $82.12 that I was charged. That experience was my last chance for that place....never again...
I have been to the restaurant several times when I have been there on business. The restaurant is located in the hotel so it is very convienant. The food is better than average, however the menu does not change it's vegetable servings throughout the year and the sides are not as appetizing as the main. The restaurant service was good and very friendly. They just need to work on their sides and presentation.
What an excellent meal and great service. No wonder this place is always packed. Next time reservations!!!! This is a great place to dine out with family and friends.
The food was great. The mashed potatoes are a must try!! Make sure you have reservations we went at 4:30 and they were able to squeeze us in at the bar. Well worth it!!! Food and service was great!
Very pleased with food congrats to chefs, maitress was very poliete bus girls were very quick and on the ball
The service was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly. I will certainly be coming back for steak again.
My favorite restaurant in the Soo! Always like to go there when I am back home to visit! Food is always good.......and so is the service. Prices reasonable.......large portions!
I decided to eat at this location after the hotel mentioned it was deemed one of the top 10 restaurants to eat in Canada. Overall, the service was awesome. Barbara was fantastic. I recommend asking for her during your visit. The food was good. The stuff sole dish was good. A BIG portion size, so come hungry.
Have been a regular for over 12 years. Food and service is so consistent I'm always impressed.
Excellent food...always consistent. Best calamair (in my opinion) in the Sault. Nice variety of foods, always great cuts of meat! One thing to mention though, is the chicken dish that comes topped with crab....it is imitation crab, which I think is a poor choice for a restaurant that is classified as more "high end"
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise... For a hotel restaurant this one stands out from the crowd! Traveling for business for many years and I always look forward to a excellent quality meal. Staff treats me like family and I know why they say that the Soo has some of the best Italian food in Ontario.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Great experience overall.
The service and atmosphere was great at lunch. The waitress was very good with the orders and the food was sent out very quickly which was awesome. The veal wasn't overcooked and the sauce on the veal was delicious. I'm not a person to eat fries but the seasoning was great. Deffinately going for lunch again, maybe even dinner. During lunch I took a quick glance at the dinner menu and they have Black Angus Steaks!!! Definately gonna have a steak dinner in that case.
We had the Buffet on Mother's Day. It was extremely tasty, great service, great atmosphere, and the choices on the buffet satisfied everyone. This restaurant is comfortable, modern, well decorated, clean and very reasonable. Their motto is "Classy elegance at an affordable price" and they mean it! We will make this one of our favourites!
From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like we were at home. The server was knowledgeable about the product and seemed to enjoy what he was doing - very refreshing. The menu had many choices and displayed a solid Italian flavour including excellent selections of fresh fish and seafood. We enjoyed the cedar planked salmon and the stuffed chicken - fantastic! We have been traveling for a few weeks and this was the best meal that we experienced. ENJOY!
Dinner was great there. Food nice and all. The lighting was absolutely terrible. Going to the washrooms you had to pass by the kitchen where chefs and waiters/waitresses were swearing at each other.
I was not at all pleased with the food, service or price. I will never visit here again.
