A bad taste from the service and the fOod. on vday our res was at 7. we were sent to bar over 1hr to wait. the bartender Vanessa paid more mind to doing shots herslef than customers.when we finally got drinks they were wrong. We decided to eat in the bar because our table still wasnt ready 1hr later. the food was served cold and she had screwed up sides. We watched her drink more with the guy vartender while people andstaff waited for drinks.dessert was served with dirty plates fromdinner there.
Went there for an anniversary dinner with my wife I made reservations a month earlier requesting a table at the fireplace and was told that I'd have it. I even had a hotel booked for after the night of the reservation I arrived early and was told to come back in 10 minutes. when I came back the gave away my table and put us at a table facing the roofing company across the street how romantic it put a damper on the night ans the food was expensive probably will never go back a very bad experience.
I was here about a week or so ago for lunch with friends and we had a great lunch and a fantastic server (Jeff). I went back today with another friend for lunch thinking it would be just as good. NOT. My friend arrived first and was seated and drinking a beer when I got there. It took forever for our server to come over to offer me a drink (despite the place being almost empty). I ordered the filet burger (without the bun) with the house salad. The burger itself was ok but was served on the bun (which I discarded onto the bread plate). The salad was nothing more than baby greens tossed in balsamic vinagrette. THAT's a house salad? Really? My friend ordered the NY strip loin and shrimp. It came with ONE shrimp..........lol. He said the steak was ok, nothing to write home about though. Good thing the company was amazing because our food was so disapppointing. I suggested this place based on my last experience there. Was I embarrassed! Not sure I'll go back. Too many other places to try.
I was with a group of 14 people celebrating a birthday and we requested the left wing, which was nicely set up for our party. We chose to go with Package C, my friends and I were shocked at the quantity of food that you get for that price. I had dined here awhile ago and they have done ALOT of renovations since then and the place looks amazing! Overall Wildfire was the perfect place to celebrate this special occasion. We will definitely return.
its june and 35c why would they have the fireplace on. The bread was great everything else went downhill from there. My prime rib was a terrible cut, mostly fat and sinew. The only thing harder than cutting it was chewing it. There's no seasoning at ALL. My roasted potatoes were hard. My gigantic vegetables were also hard and no flavour. They were out of the apple dessert i ordered. It seemed like a poorly executed restaurant from the 80's!
Having been raised in the home of a chef I would say my dining tastes and expectations are fairly high. In addition I worked in the service industry for a number of years and I tend to be critical of improper services rendered. I have dined at the Wildfire on a number of occasions and I have always been impressed with the food quality, presentation, service and overall dining experience. Every visit is a pleasure!
We were visiting our daughter in St. Catharines and someone suggested we try Wildfire Grill House on Ontario St. May I just say it was the best restaurant for many reasons that we have been to in such a long time. The atmosphere was wonderful. From the minute we were greated at the door til we left, we were taken care of. Our waitress was very knowledgable and took very special care of us. We all ordered the "peppercorn fillet". It was amazing and done just the way we all ordered it. We were never without and our waitress was always making sure we were taken care of. Even the owner dropped by our table to make sure that we were doing ok. Now that is service from the top down.I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and make sure you try the "peppercorn fillet". You won't be disappointed.
I was given gift certificates for this restaurant and was interested in trying it out. Thank God, I didn't pay for this overpriced meal. Our waiter was adequate. It was early in the night and he only had three tables total. I expected a little more attention, like getting us a second drink. The food was passable, but had issues. I ordered the Delmonico steak medium rare. It was cooked medium well. No juice coming from the steak. How do you overcook a steak by that much. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, I pointed out the steak. He tried to argue that the steak was medium, not mediun well. I reiterated that I ordered medium rare. He offered to get a new steak. My wife's steak was at least medium, when she ordered medium rare. The vegetables were done perfectly, but the mashed potatoes were really crumbly and dry. My son was accommodated quite well as he is only 5. They were able to get him some pasta exactly as he likes it. For the price point, I will not be returning. Other steak houses are cheaper, with better service.
It was a messy slushy day in March on a weekday when I went to try out Wildfire. The first thing I noticed is that the cars in the front of the restaurant had heavy snow on them and the rear parking lot had cars that had just arrived (staff park in the front and customers are forced to park in the rear). It was a bad weather day so I can see maybe the staff wanted to be close to the entrance. The place was about 10% full and pretty empty which is expected due to the weather. Atmosphere was nice at first glance but after paying closer attention to detail it definitely does not meet the standards of a more elite establishment. I noticed that there were food chunks behind the lamp on the table. The Good: It was appealing at first glance and I have to admit, the New York was decent. The Bad: New York was decent but everything else was terrible, the prime rib was tasteless, the lobster tails where tiny and dry, portions are average. Washrooms look very out-dated and poorly maintain, definitely nothing like the dining room. The Ugly: Our waiter advised us that he had mint tea, we both ordered mint tea and he brought us lemon tea. After we asked him about it he stated, "I never said we had mint tea, although we should carry it...... sometimes we have it." He never offered to change our drinks. Sigh.... so he sold me on the prime rib special stating that it came with three lobster tails, only two came out. I asked for fries with my order and he said that they didn't have a deep fryer but sarcastically said that he would walk over to McDonalds if I'd liked. (Would've gotten better service for sure at the golden arches) I asked for the Prime Rib to be medium rare it came out medium well to well done, barely any pink on the meat at all. He did offer to replace the prime rib; at this point I had lost all faith in our waiter and advised him to forget about. I would expect a visit from the manager or supervisor to come by, or at least an apology from my own waiter. I feel that the wait staff definitely had a superior complex about them. Maybe they had an off day but the lack of customers in the place you would think that the service would be much better. I definitely will not return and suggest you to spend your money elsewhere.

This is a nicely laid out, confortable restaurant with cosy fireplaces. If your working on a small budjet, perhaps you should look elsewhere, as this can be a costly venture, I took my wife there for her birthday, and the food was exceptional. The place is a tad busy, so book ahead for sure! The servers are pleasant, but the service was a touch slow,, to be expected in a bustling place. The only critique in regards to our dinner was the server serving me someone elses dinner, then returning to take it to another table. This was a bit of a turn off for me, knowing that someones meal had been shuffled around from table to table.. If you want to take someone out for a nice meal, this would be a good spot to go, however.
The food is alwys high quality. The restaurent always has anice atmospehere.
Wildfire is an excellent restuarant. We go there regularly and went last night for our wedding anniversary. We had the 'dinner for 2 special' which included 2 salads, 2 filets, 2 bacon wrapped shrimp and 1.5 lb lobster. It was excellent! Service was great, and we had the best table in the house, a nice curved booth infront of the fireplace. The staff was even considerate enough not to seat anyone in our section, so it was a very private evening. We were so full from dinner that when our waiter brought the bill he insisted on giving us a complimentary dessert, we said it was ok, and he insisted, so we brought it home! (Brownie chocolate cheesecake is great for breakfast!) We go there constantly for special occasions and have never been let down!
To start we had the bagel chips with spinach and artichoke dip which came out in a reasonable time. Our server had visited our table 5 times to pester us by the time we had finished our appetizer. Each time he talked it was directed only towards my girlfriend. After the 2nd visit she told me that the server was making her feel uncomfortable by his obvious attempt to flirt. The wood grilled chicken with herb and lemon sauce was well cooked though lacked any real flavour. The herb and lemon sauce appears to be the same served with their seafood. Melted butter, some lemon, garlic and not much else. The peppercorn filet with shrimp came with roasted potatoes, asparagus and carrots. The asparagus was cooked perfectly but by the end it was apparent it had some sort of grit on it. The peppercorn filet was served medium well though medium was order. When I cut the steak and showed the waiter the lack of any pink colour he stared at me blankly like I was colour blind. He finally decided to replace the overcooked meat. The 2nd steak that came out had no colour and seemed more cooked then the last one. We ate what we had and soon left disguised at the quality of the service and food. I would not recommend anyone go to this restaurant expecting a 'steakhouse quality' meal. On the positive side, the quality of the raw food was seemingly high -- they just lacked the knowledge on how to properly prepare it.
contrary to what we read , we had the best server!!! hHe was very attentive to our 9 year old grandaughter and we had a great time!!! Would visit again for sure. I believe his name was Shay. Codos to him for dispelling the rumour!!!!
the best seafood & steaks & of course oysters...the oysters are fresh on the 1/2 shell with an assortment of toppings...steaks are cooked to perfection...we go there twice a month for dinner. some of the servers could be better though.
the escargot is very tasty & different from other places, the ceasar salad is really good. steaks are always excellent, especially their peppercorn sauce, chicken frangelico is my personal fave! they do tapas now as well which are pretty good too, but we do prefer the regular menu items.
Very average food at best. I do a better job at home on my bbq. everything lacked flavor
we go to the st. cath & n. falls locations for lunch, dinner or just drinks atleast 4 times a week. by far the friendliest staff & best food around. we sit in the bar for a drink or quick meal, or in the dining room for a nice, relaxed dinner with friends or family. delmonico steak, pizzas, burgers for lunch, everyhting is always excellent. must try!
We go there all the time, & there is 2 locations, so we frequent both locations, Niagara & ST. Catharines. Food is always surpasses excellency, & there is a band that plays on thursday Nights in the N. Falls one along with them serving tapas, always a great time. John
