The food at this little inn is absolutely spectacular! I came on two occasions, once for lunch with my boyfriend and once again with my mother for a nights stay. The first time I went was in the winter during their off-season. The dining room was empty, but that just added to the ambiance. We started with a roasted beet salad which was spectacular. I had the lobster grilled cheese sandwich (which I'm still dreaming about!!) and my boyfriend had the gnocci, which was equally delicious. Our server was very friendly, and, while pricey for students like us, it was definitely worth it. We did have a coupon that eased our price a bit, but I would pay full price for quality like that! The second time I visited Keefer Mansion was for a night's stay coupon, which included a 3 course dinner for two, a luxury suite and continental breakfast. Dinner was absolutely delicious! We started with a salad and spare rib ravioli, to die for!! I had the roasted capon with wild mushroom risotto, and my mother had the beef tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection and had amazing flavour. The dessert course was a lemon curd tart and a white chocolate cheesecake, beautiful way to end the meal. We were in the best room of the inn, and it was delightful. The best par of the stay I have to admit was the 'continental breakfast.' Maybe I just haven't been to the right places, but my perspective of a continental breakfast is a few stale bagels and some cereal. Keefer Mansion's 'continental breakfast' is served to you!! It included a goat cheese and leek quiche, a yogurt berry and granola parfait and a few croissants as well as the option of cereal. This came with the stay !! It was beautiful. So delicious. I was not expecting a warm delicious breakfast, that's for sure. Overall, what a great experience. Can't wait to go back and try it again !!
Staff are very attentive and naturally there is a great wine list. Our meals were perfect in every way. It was a special ocassion for us but we will go back everytime we visit Thorold.
I have been to the Keefer Inn at least 4 times in the past 3 months, and my overall expereience with them keeps getting worse. The first time, absolutely great food and service. This specific waitress, whom we have had the past 2 visits, is extremely unattentive and slow. There were only 5 other tables in the restaurant, and from ordering time to leaving time, was over 2 hours. We were only asked once how the food was (mediocre) when she was clearing away the plates from the entree. The food itself was okay, much better on the previous visit. When the bill finally came, we waited more than 10 minutes for our change, and never received any.

Food was very good, my only complaint was that my perch entree, had undercooked pancetta, a little too chewy for me. Otherwise, very nice. Our server was attentive, and knew the menu inside and out.

Ceasar salad and Mussels for an Appetizer - Excellent!! Most of us had Striploin as Main Course. It was very good but a little under cooked for some of us. Pork tenderloin was perfect! The meals were beautifully presented and the service was outstanding. The Manision has been beautifully restored and provides a lovely setting for dining. The hostess was kind enough to tour us thru the mansion and the photo album with restoration pictures was enjoyed by all. Was worth the drive and the money!

Definitely a classy place to go if you don't mind spending a little extra. About $40 each before tax for a 3 course meal plus bread. Quiet and elegant atmosphere, polite and friendly servers, food was amazing.
