I have been to this location of AGT multiple times. This time .the service was slow (they were very busy) and the restaurant was extremely noisy. Lots of large groups at long tables likely increased their volume in order to be heard from one end of their table to the other over the ear splitting sound of the music. It is a great spot on the waterfront but the staff need to be mindful that those floor to ceiling windows create both a beautiful view and a perfect opportunity for sound to be amplified and bounced around the room. It definitely shouldn't be necessary to ask the person beside you to shout so you can hear them. Food was good but two of three orders came out several minutes before the third....not sure why since they were all large salads.....but it was good.

We noticed you had a special events room and we're considering on using it for an up coming event but when we asked the hostess she said it had to be booked in advance...we simply wanted to see it and thought it was weird that we couldn't...

We loved the table and view. It was very comfy for our party including two octagenerians. The service was outstanding and food delicious. Thanks for the great visit.

Went for drinks to celebrate St Patrick's Day ... great service and great music. The staff did a good job with the free snacks (although strange how some patrons brought to the free table a take out container) and the kitchen presented the plates very nicely. Great spot that we are happy is so close to our downtown place. Would love to see more frequent live music :)

The best part of the meal was dessert. Very original, overkill in sweetness however original and butter tarts are over the top sweet anyway. In terms of food it would perhaps preparing food from scratch and not store bought condiments.

Decent food and service. Food can be improved a bit. Greasy and cold fries and hard fish was not acceptable. Salad and deserts were really good.

Service was a bit slow, but understandable since it's at lunch. The food was delicious - I liked the daily Specials, the wine was delicious and I look forward to hosting more friends and clients here.

No problem with staff or atmosphere - good experience. BUT, you used to be a "fine dinning" place. Now, you've become a "pub food" place. Very disappointing! Only 2 choices for dessert?

Perfect place for outdoor dining with beautiful view and surroundings. Good service too. However some additions for vegetarian meals would be great.

Of five orders, three arrived with mistakes. No toast on one, white rather than whole wheat on two more, a sausage short on one breakfast as well. Seemed inattention in the kitchen rather than waitstaff to blame.

Your food has faded. The curried chicken was lamentable. The fish & chips over-battered and chips limp and over cooked. Wine list feeble. Pity - since such a lovely patio Summer venue. I remember years ago much more effort and effect in I your kitchen. In all this, your reception and serve staff were charming!

Service is always SO slow here. We sat for 15 minutes before someone even asked us if we'd like to order a drink. I also asked to get a gift card and no one even knew how to do one? That took another 20 minutes and I was thrown to 3 different employees.

Despite reading some not so positive reviews, I decided to go ahead with making a dinner reservation for date night because I really wanted to be by the water. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by our entire dining experience that night. We requested a patio table instead of our reserved table, and were seated right away along the water. Our server was friendly, and the food was amazing. The steak and the salmon dishes we ordered were cooked perfectly and with such flavour! We will definitely be back!

I had a great dinner at Against the Grain. The food was great & we were allowed ample time to sit & enjoy our meal. My only comment would be with regards to how quickly our meal came. I would say we were served within 10-minutes of ordering. I noticed this with other tables who had hot meals served. Same speed. It would make me wonder how 'freshly prepared' the meals are. A salad is understandable; a pizza would take more than 10-minutes.

Our server looked as though he had come off the street - surely it's not too much to make sure these servers look presentable - you have clearly asked them to wear black but let's try to make it a fresh, clean and well-fitted black without a belt hanging down in front. If I'm spending money, can I at least be served by someone who looks like they care how they look - it hurts your restaurant image. Also I had the pot pie - even though I gave it 5 minutes as I ate the topping, when I took a tiny amount, it burnt my mouth and throat quite badly - my throat is still sore today, two days later. A warning might have been nice, it is incredibly hot and stays that way for a time.

Our Irish server was extremely accommodating and friendly. The view from under our sun umbrella was gorgeous and the smashed avocado toast was refreshing and delicious. Wonderful sunny day destination -- especially when one needs some respite from the hot inner city.

It was a first time there - "date night" for the two of us and we love patios - what a perfect night (32 degrees) and a perfect setting. We were so impressed with the friendly service - our waitress was excellent - so friendly and personable. We shared the calamari starter which we both said "we would definitely" come back for! We drank wine and beer and then shared chilli nachos. They were delicious but a big portion for the two of us so we left a bit - no big deal. We both said we would definitely be back!

Our initial service was slow, but afterwards our server was fantastic, with prompt service and great food and drink recommendations. All of the food, from appetizers of pretzels & calamari, to our sandwich mains, were absolutely fantastic. This place is still a bit of a hidden gem, right on the water with gorgeous views of the lake. The patio atmosphere could benefit from a bit better music and lighting though to really make it shine.
