Lunch Buffet on Weekends

A few years ago this place was amazing. The lunch buffet couldn't be beat, and dinner entrees were even better. I went to their lunch buffet recently and man has it ever degraded in quality. The rice was kinda hard, their tandoori chicken was dry. The butter chicken tasted rushed, like i wasn't marinated enough and was lacking spices. the sawa chicken was cold. They don't like the rotate the food I guess, it's too bad. And they're pretty bad at refilling your water. The atmosphere is very nice though, and the washrooms are nice and clean. Other than that, I can't say this is real Indian food anymore.
Aroma is definitely one of the best indian places in Toronto. The food is very delicious, fresh and crispy, better than most indian places I've been so far. The atmosphere is somewhat like a fancy banquet hall so it might seem weird at first but I guess that's the indian custom for the fancy restaurants. The staff was very nice and always brought us anything we desired right away.
I've been to a few Indian restaurants and I always return to this one. Aroma even beats some of the restaurants in the little India area. The lunch buffet is very good and cheap. The service is very good and they keep on top of your water. I've gone for dinner as well, and the food is superb. Fresh, yummy, juicy, the best. The only thing I don't like is there are no paper towels in the washroom, just one hand dryer that does squat. Never mind Dhaba, Go To Aroma!
Two of us went for dinner before a concert. The food was generally tasty and the service was timely. The waiter kept our water-glasses topped up with ice water - something that too many restaurants don't bother to do. Unfortunately, however, all was not well. The beverage menu doesn't list the available beers - only the categories Domestic, Imported and Indian. I asked the waiter what Imported beers they offered, hoping for something European. He proceeded to name all the beers they had, all of which are brewed in Canada, except for the Indian beer, Kingfisher, which we both ordered. It was unremarkable. The soup and the naan bread came nice and hot, but all the other food arrived lukewarm. The lamb chunks contained unpleasant bits of fat and gristle, concealed by the tasty Korma sauce, but immediately apparent once in the mouth. The after-meal coffee was small, boring-tasting, and not hot. It came with one 3/8-oz. coffee creamer of 10% butterfat, another of 2% partly-skimmed milk, and a small bowl of sugar packets. I would have expected a restaurant that charges $30 for a meal without dessert to at least be able to make a decent cup of hot coffee, and not skimp on the cream.
There are a lot of Indian restaurtants to choose from in Toronto. This one is in the heart of the Theater District and they cater for the "before the show" folks - fast service!!! The food was good (I have had better).
visited this restaurant very late on a friday evening despite this the welcome was very friendly and the service prompt and helpful.the food was of a very good standard, and the vindaloo was the most wicked ive ever tasted!we ended up being the last to leave but were never rushed and felt that our custom was valued.highly recommend to anyone looking for good curry with service to match
Excellent food, well flavoured, but not too spicey. Went with someone who wasn't sure how she felt about indian food and she loved it! She said she would definitely come again, as would I. Servers were friendly and food was prompt and hot. No complaints at all.
Very nice food I've tried. Service was adequate despite I was the only one and the waiter were wonder and ponder around. I would come back again.
After a long flight from Germany, we were dying to try some nice food, and the concierge at the Intercontinental Hotel was very helpful to suggest this delightful restaurant with friendly servers and great food. Wish we had one like this in our town back home!
Great food, and even greater service! Of all the Indian restaurants I've been to, this is the greatest Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had! I travel all around the world and I've tried Indian food in all major cities, and this was the most delihtful dining experience in terms of food and service. Bravo! Keep up the good work!
The size of the buffet spread and the quality of the food and the flavours were too amazing for the price of the buffet! Specially the chicken on the big hot plate was delicious. In spite of the restaurant being packed, we were taken care of very well. We had a couple of nice Indian beers, which the servers suggested, and we had a great time. We will definitely be visiting next time we're in town.
Went there as it was highly recommended by a friend. Food was good. Service was bad experience. We had to wait for some one to take order. Had to wait for drinks again. Our server not friendly and was stumbling over words to explain us a few question we had about the menu. We had to wait for some time to have our table cleaned. Then they just left us forgot about us!!!. Overall i would say never take your guests there to entertain them, though they have good food.
Service ? Awful! We were on our own. We waited for everything and had to beg for basic things. But in the meantime, we did found something to do: watch the tables of those who arrived after us being served before us. That is sad because the food was good. But don't worry, we will never come back to disturb you. Next time, I will find another indian restaurant where I feel welcomed.
We have been as a couple here twice and I have gone here for business dinners and am always very happy with the amazing food, great service and our whole experience. It is usually a great mix of folks enjoying the authentic Indian food and the atmosphere is a positive one. Josh the owner is always so warm and welcoming and makes sure you do enjoy your time whilst at his restaurant. Everything here is so delicious, especially the homemade naan......
This was our first time to this restaurant and we really enjoyed it! Food was excellent!
I will certainly return with other friends..
Our dining experience at Aroma was wonderful. The food was delicious, the staff was outstanding and the overall experience was very memorable. I would gladly recommend your restaurant to friends and family.
Went to Aroma for dinner before a theatre show and was pleased with the overall experience. The food was tasty and plentiful and we felt that we received good value for the price. Would go back again.
We really enjoyed the lunch buffet. There was a good variety of offerings. The food was fresh & hot. Service was very quick and efficient. It is challenging to find a place in the Financial district that presents a good value but this is definitely one of those places.
Everything was delicious and the service was great.
The food was good. The service was poor. The waiter gave us little to no attention. We asked to have two separate bills which he refused. Instead he did mental math on what each of us owed, including a generous tip for himself. It was insulting. We could do the math ourselves. That was not the issue. We wanted separate bills. So the conclusion is that two women eating there on a Saturday evening will be treated poorly.
Excellent, as always.
Great Food at a great price
Chicken and veg dishes were delicious. The goat and beef was very tough and chewy
Very good food and service.
like the place
My wife and I were blown away by the bold flavours and perfect execution of the dishes we ordered. If you go make sure to try the tandoori gobi. So wonderful and a neat presentation. The service was very professional. When we go back to T.O. we will be sure to visit again.
Very good value- nice food and good variety of buffet choices. Perfect food for a cold winter day. Will return again.
As always, the restaurant was packed. The food and service are always good here. I was hoping to have some eggplant or okra as the vegetable but it was green beans which are kind of boring. Still, I love that the food isn't greasy and is always fresh.
I've been to Aroma a few times and each time I go I get reminded of why I like going there. Its delicious and a very affordable price, similar to one's experience when going to www.johnvelocci.com
Service is hopeless, did not honor group on coupon and even did not honor corporate discount through Vengo.
The buffet had a wonderful flavour without being overly salty and spicy. Serving temperatures were appropriate i.e. hot foods were steaming, the cold item were cool and crispy. The fresh pappadums were slightly oily and crispy. Pappadums were rushed, so the sheets were stuck together which made them retain the oil vs drain. On the whole, food very tasty and is my 3rd visit in the last 30 days because friends, office parties and myself independently selected this restaurant over the holidays.
Always the finest of its kind.
My friends/colleagues and me ALWAYS have a great time at Aroma. It always seems to be busy. Everyone, including the cooks are fun and polite. I love th owner. When he is there, he is always available for friendly conversation. Thank you so much for a great time.
The atmosphere was alright. I have been there many times, so I am used to the crowd. With regards to service, my friend had asked for a glass of white wine after she was done with the main course. She received it along with dessert. The food as usual was excellent.
The food was great. I like the cauliflower, Bhindi, Kadi . Even though I am a vegetarian, My colleauges liked the NonVeg choices and there are a good variety of choices, including kheer, gulabjamun and icecream for dessert. Its nice location , though a little crowded. Some improvements which could be done - Pakoda's were not hot, hence did not taste as good. Nan could be served at table, as it would be hot and not cold, when put in buffet. No need to add color to GulabJamun
This was our second visit to Aroma; drawn back by their delicious butter chicken. Unfortunately, this time the butter chicken was lukewarm and tasted like Campbell's tomato soup.
I thought the service was adequate. The food was a little bland and not hot enough, except for the naan which was right of the oven and very good.
Aroma is a great restaurant which serves authentic Indian food. Owner has a great passion, which makes guest feels welcomed.
It was very crowded on Friday
This is my go-to Indian restaurant in downtown Toronto. A beautiful setting, service that treats you as a guest - not just a customer - and spectacular food, including the perfect papadum. Love it!
Everything was good. But waiter was asking for tip forcefully as my friend forget to give via debit machine. He latterly forced us to give tip either by cash or debit machine told us like it is restaurant you have to give tip. Because of this behavior we decided not to give tip. Food was good so must visit at least one time.
An excellent restaurant to bring friends to have good indian foods. The price is also very reasonable.
