We had our engagement party here and overall had a really good experience. Our servers and the events person, Catherine, did a great job filling special requests. For example, they helped us untangle our balloons and found us a charger for our camera. They even brought us complimentary champagne! One of my friends arrived with her baby and although I forgot to tell Catherine of this in advance the staff found a high chair for the baby. (Unfortunately it was a bit too short for the high tables (understandable) so perhaps Mill Street should invest in a higher high chair?) We ordered apps for the tables which everyone enjoyed (grilled cheese and elk silders). I had the perogies which were really great. Two of our guests ordered the margharita pizza and did not eat it though - it was really undercooked and flimsy. So I would not recommend ordering that. As I said, overall it was great. Thanks for everything!

What a great server -- there we were two middle-aged women with a bunch of kids in a beer place -- yet this guy was as friendly and attentive as if we were a table full of 30-year-old drinkers. Really the food was fine and the venue was solid but it was a wonderful server who made us feel welcome.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The service was a little slow, but understandable for a large group of 30. The staff at the front hostess area when you arrive was a little disorganized. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun. We had a wonderful time and would return.

Everything was excellant inside the pub, however it would have been nice to enjoy the sunshine in the patio for dinner & some drinks.

Enjoyed our lunch very much and had the pleasure of meeting the chef, Tristan D'Souza, Tristan discussed the menu and made suggestions based on my husband's discerning palate. The duck wings were excellent and we'll definitely re-visit the restaurant.

The restaurant was kind of cold, possibly influenced by the cold weather outside but the food was amazing and the service from all waiters and managers was excellent. Definitely, going to come back!

Food was good but could have used a little more seasoning. Price was more than it should have been but the beer was great and service was excellent. While it was fine for us, there were a lot of ppl on nearby tables that had to use their phones as light to see the menu as it was quite dark in the hall.

The ambience was cheerful and the server was very nice and frequently checked on us. We were celebrating a birthday. So I called in to confirm whether they could accommodate any cakes and/or surprise, but the answer machine picked up and I did not get a reply from the restaurant. However, the request was accommodated by the manager, and we were given a round of "Polar Bear" shots. Nice Experience.

Dining a little early before going to the theatre made our dinner rather noisy with all of the children around. However the entire restaurant had a high level of noise even from the adults. To make matters worse there is a live entertainer who is also competing with loud music playing in the background. Being a person who cherishes the ability to have meals with friends where we can easily enjoy each other's company and talk, this just doesn't work. Food was good as well as service but the noise level is not my cup of tea so we will not be back. If that's the type of thing people like, then enjoy.

Booked online - seated close to private beer tasting party with a very loud master of ceremonies and music - not sure why mgmt would seat diners beside such a loud event. Other tables sat empty for an hour but mgmt refused to move us. Food is ok, service indifferent (typical poorly-trained Toronto wait staff). Place is expensive and living off its location.

Friday night dinner with the wife. Veggie and elk burgers were awesome. Beer was fresh. Dj starts around 9 and continued a chill vibe throughout. Not too loud. Staff were great. Nice Friday night spot.

Even though I booked on line, they did not have my reservation. It was confusing between the Beer Hall and the Brewery. We did get a table and they accommodated us very well with a child. The order taking was speedy, the drink service slow and then all of the meal (apps and main) came together. Food was OK, pub style. We like the fondue and pretzel the best. Wine was expensive for this type of environment. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you for allowing us to hold our special occasion at this venue - we were delighted that we were able to get a reservation for such a large group at such a busy time of year. Overall the experience was good, but we did experience a few issues with the food and the service. Two meals (I believe they were the briskets) were cold and I hear that one was returned to the kitchen to be warmed up. The other guest didn't complain to the waitress about their meal being cold and just ate it as it was. In three other instances, the guests who ordered the schnitzel found their meal to be very dry (perhaps they were kept under a heat lamp until all the meals were ready??). The meat was so hard and dry that two guests (the guests of honor) couldn't cut the meat with their knife. Unfortunately they too did not complain about their meal at the time, but told me afterwards. In my own experience, part of my meal was delicious - I ordered the beef tenderloin. The beef was very well seasoned and the potatoes were delicious - however the vegetables were extremely salty. I usually tend to like salty food, but in this instance there was so much salt on the vegetables that it actually crunched when I put the vegetables in my mouth. I just left the vegetables on the side of my plate and ate the rest of the food. I hear that the folks who ordered the mac and cheese however loved their meals. The young lady serving us was lovely, however she said that she was in training and she seemed a bit nervous to work with our large group. I'm not sure that having someone in training is a good idea when working with such a large group (17 guests). Unfortunately she did make a few mistakes on the bills (some food items placed on the wrong bills), but our group of guests were extremely patient and understanding when she took some time to correct the errors. Again as I said, overall the atmosphere was good, but we were disappointed with the food. This event was an opportunity to celebrate my parent's 60th wedding anniversary and we really wanted the experience to be a memorable one for them. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that they will have a good memory of eating at your restaurant. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to give you some feedback.

The iron skillet is described on the menu as having smashed potatoes with sour cream. In fact we were served roast potatoes with sour cream on the side. They were very good but not as described. The steak seemed smaller than 6oz but was very good quality.

Best Toronto restaurants for new spring 2016 menus

Best Toronto restaurants for new spring 2016 menus

Spring has sprung at Mill Street’s Beer Hall, but it’s not all crisp salads and light dishes here. The new menu features Dirty Chips ($6 - lattice chips topped with crumbled blue cheese, bacon bits and chives, served with blue cheese dip), Poutine Trio ($17) with Jerk Chicken, Smoked Brisket, and Wild Boar, Elk and Beef), Fried Chicken & Biscuits ($19), and Santa Maria Steak For Two ($55). An array of salads ($8-$19) are indeed available should you want to keep it light, but you might just want to save room for the Cobblestone Stout Brownie ($10) with warm fudge, vanilla ice cream and salted caramel. It’s not a spring dessert, but it's never a bad time for a decadent sweet.
