Absolutely great service at a reasonable price! Grant and Alex were extremely timely, helpful and knowledgeable. I will be turning to Dunn Heating and Air Conditioning for all of my future HVAC needs and will recommend them to all my friends.
Great customer service and knowledgeable technicians. Had limited spacing to run duct work and was informed by other companies the only way to do it was with an ugly bulk head. Dunn heating came up with a clever and efficient way to the solution, at a more than competitive rate - well done, Dunn!
I can say that Dann came quickly to diagnose my noisy furnace. The problem is that they charged me $605 before tax to replace a Venter assembly, which surpisingly only took the technician 10 minutes to replace. When the tech gave me a ballpark to replace it, I assumed he would be there for hours based on the cost. Later on I looked up the price of the Venter and found the retail cost to be $300, which means they charged me $305 for 10 mins of labour and a little travel time.
My A/C died on the Friday before the labor day long weekend. I called my original installer, they said all their techs are booked and won't be able to do anything for me until Tuesday. I called a few more places and got the same story until I got around to Dunn.
Dunn's tech, Dave, came in 30 minutes, root caused the problem to a capacitor and possibly some loose wires from the original installer, fetched a replacement capacitor from his supplier in 15 minutes, and got the A/C compressor running again.
Then he noticed how cold the return line was and suspected insufficient furnace airflow. He took a look at my furnace and saw that the controller was set for a 3.5 ton unit instead of the 4 ton that I have. He also mentioned that the duct work is a bit undersized for a 4 ton. He reconfigured the board for a 4 ton unit, explained to me how to change the airflow setting in the future if I wanted to, and made sure all the dampers were open.
All in all, I felt like he was doing all he could to get me running correctly and save me from future service calls. That's great service in my eyes.
We had a furnace installed by Al Dunn Heating and Air Conditioning. The furnace was installed incorrectly. This caused subsequent problems. The worst part was, when we called for service, they charged us, but never actually found the main problem themselves.
Frustrated, I read the manual and figured out what was wrong. They had installed the furnace with a condensate pump that removes condensate out of the furnace because we don't have a floor drain. The furnace kept tripping a pressure switch (don't know the technical terms but I think this is right) because the little tube that feeds into the pump was too close to the bottom - this made it impossible for water to drain out of the pump, shutting off the furnace.
The fix took me about a minute when I found it. I cut the tube by about an inch and the furnace has worked fine ever since.
Things that worry me about this company:
- they installed the pump wrong
- when they came to do service, they never asked me what the error code on the furnace was - and never looked for one
- they installed the furnace so the furnace fan is interlocked to the heating system - this means the fan cannot be turned on by itself.
I would never ever use this company again.
