Since moving to Welland, we have discovered that a lack of decor doesn't mean bad food. The food is always good, that's the main thing. It's a shame the place looks tired; if they spruced it up a bit I'm sure more people would dine there. My wife had the liver n onions THREE times in three months; more than she has had in the last 26 years. Awesome home-made mashed potatoes too. I have given up though on trying to find good fish n chips, theirs are as average as anyone else's.
i have been a regular for over 25 years. The food is always perfect and exact. Mary always has a kind word to say. I LOVE THE FIRESIDE!!!
We had our doubts once seated inside, but the food was delicious. My husband had the Prime Rib special which included salad or soup and dessert, for $17. I had chicken souvlaki with soup/salad and dessert for $11. Portion sizes on both dishes were very generous. Since salad came with my souvlaki, I got the soup, which was homemade, hot, and yummy. The prime rib was extremely tender and flavorful, thoughtfully served with a small portion of freshly ground horseradish and a homemade popover to sop up the juices. The souvlaki included a side of tzaziki sauce, which was very good; my husband asked for a portion to go. Dessert was rice pudding, jello, or cream pie, which hubby loved, I thought was so-so. Betty's Restuarant, which is nearby in Niagra Falls, has much better pie! All of the patrons when we were there were locals, another good sign. I felt it was an excellent value, but could use an update in decor--obviously it is just fine as it is for everyone who enjoyed dinner there tonite.
Been there before, & low and behold that same waitress seems to always be assigned to our table. Don't know her name: 5'-4"; brunette/brown hair; 160 lbs; never smiles; always short; doesn't come back for coffee; doesn't come back to offer desert; doesn't ask how the food is, 'but' if she thinks we got something to say about the food, she won't take any critiquing; and hardly ever say 'thank you' for tip or for our patronage; says bye, but doesn't say 'come back'. She got my wife so infuriated, she doesn't want to go back: thing is, my wife only gets infuriated with sloppy waitresses/ers.
Great little gem in Welland. They are known for their greek style cuisine, especially their chicken/pork souvlakis and their greek salad. They have a pretty good family cuisine menu, with foods ranging from italian, to greek.
MY BOYFRIEND AND I WERE FOR BREAKFAST ON SAT MORNING. THE FOOD WAS GREAT.. BUT OUR WAITRESS DID NOT CHECK ON US AFTER SHE SERVED THE FOOD.. WE HAD TO ASK FOR MORE COFFEE. SHE DID NOT COME BACK AND CHECK WHICH I FEEL WAS NOT SAFICE. A WAITRESS HAS TO CHECK ON HER TABLE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS GOOD.HOW CAN YOU LEAVE YOUR TABLE AND NOT CHECK TO SEE IF THEY MAY NEED ANYTHING ELSE. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL
BEST FOOD! BEST SERVICE! GREAT STAFF! FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. AND AGAIN, GREAT FOOD. YUMMY FOOD I LOVE IT, I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE. THEIR GREEK SALAD IS THE BEST IF YOUR NOT A MEAT EATER DEFINITLY JUST GO FOR THE GREEK SALAD!
The fish and chips were great, the fish was very very fresh, it's hard to get fresh fish in this area and it's great because freshness is everything. Batter for fish was also good. Chicken sovalki was also very very good. Tziki sauce is THE BEST IN THE WORLD, you will never find better anywhere.
There is nothing special about this place. Decor is awfully old. The booths are very small and tight. The service could be better. They seem to be more focused on chatting with the regulars than servng us occasional folk. The food is homeade but very plain tasting. The menu looks like its from the 70s but pricey. Why is this place not cheaper? And they seem to take pride in their sign outside advertising fish and chips, but again, not reasonably priced. This is Welland people, you should be lowering your prices big time! Stop ripping us off. You have an old worn out restaurant with plain food, give your heads a shake!!!
Restaurant has outstanding Greek food options as well as home-cooked meals. It can be busy but waitresses are wonderful and the owner is constantly circulating to ensure patrons are well taken care of. It's a great family restaurant!
after visiting almost every place out in welland, and not really enjoying our meals or service from some of the fast foods to the new trendy restaurants from the old to the new ones. we visited the fireside ,,, well in the last two weeks we have been there three times. tonight were going again !!!! PRICE,, FOOD,, SERVICE,,OVERALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU JUST CANT BEAT A HOME COOKED MEAL LIKE THE FIRESIDE SERVES
