The service is terrible. They made mistakes and customer had to pay for their mistake. I ordered haddock instead of halibut, and the server insisted that is customer ‘s mistake not hers. Another time, they didn’t have scallops for seafood combination, when i went back to pick up.they mentioned they gave us extra shrimps instead. They should have mentioned when customer ordered the menu not after paying for it and pick up the food. To be honest,The food is alright, their service is terrible.

Great Breakfast/ Great Burger/ Great Fish & Chips

Whatever the time of day, breakfast is ready at Hooksey's. If you are looking for a quick burger at lunch theirs is great. For dinner try the fish 'n chips, eat in or take out, you won't be disappointed!

I ordered halibut and chips for lunch takeout...

I ordered halibut and chips for lunch takeout. The order was generous (although for $9.50 for a takeout order, I'd better hope it was). The batter was nice and crisp, without being too thick and was slightly oily, perfectly fine in my opinion. The fish seemed on the dry side, I had strands of it wedge themselves between my teeth which has never really happened to me with Halibut before. The flavour was fine, not at all fishy, but it seemed dry. The fries were served with little to no colour to them. They were limp with minimal crispness. Worst of all they were dried out and had a reheated taste. I know chips can be double fried, and most chip places do it. These tasted like they'd been sitting around for a while...... I expected more but was let down.

Every time we go to the bank, we saw ppl going in...

Every time we go to the bank, we saw ppl going in and out of this small restaurant, so we decided to try it out. We were impressed with both the food and friendly service. We've been back about 5 times since then because the fish and chips are consistently good. The fries are fresh, the fish has a light batter and doesn't seem too greasy, and you get a small coleslaw on the side. For a change, hubby tried the souvlaki (came with greek salad and fries) this time around and said it was amazing - something you'd find at a Greek restaurant. My 3 year old enjoyed the kid's fish portion. Overall, we'll continue to go back to Hooksey's because the other fish and chips places in Whitby that we've been to just doesn't hit the spot.

Service was fast, but the fish wasn't that good. It seemed like a piece of frozen fish from the grocery store freezer. Fries were great though.
