Not going back

There were about 12 of us at this restaurant for a birthday. When I saw the menu, I was impressed with the variety. I immediately planned on going back based solely on the menu. However, our server was very sarcastic and rude. He didn't tell us about extra charges. There could have been more food for the prices they had. They filled the pastas with lots of sauce to make it look like more. When a friend complained about the sauce our server said, "want me to wash it off for you?" in a very sarcastic and demeaning tone. When we received our bill it was all on one. We asked if he could do seperate bills because it would be more convienent for us. He said no and walked away. The whole time he was laughing so we did not know if he was joking or not. We had to calculate our bill ourself. Even after we did he said we were short money...which i don't really see how that was possible. Although the food was good and the menu had many items on it, the service completely ruined this restaurant for every one of my friends and myself and I would never plan on going back now.

Heavenly Italia!

My husband and I have frequented this restaurant for years! Never once have we been disappointed with the food, the waitstaff, the wait time or the amenities offered. The ambience is romantic but still family friendly. The portions are large--you'll need a doggy bag with most of the pasta entrees! The pizzas are lovely; 1 pizza + 1 salad = 2 people with a full belly! Very substantial! Gratzi, Spago! We'll see you again!

True Taste of Italy!

My wife and I come across the border into Windsor from the United States every couple of months just to go to Spago Ristorante. We've been coming to this wonderful restaurant for nearly a decade and have never once been disappointed. As my wife will tell you, I am a tough critic when it comes to Italian food, since I am 100% Sicilian and grew up eating great Italian food. As well, I've been to Italy, so when I say that Spago is a true taste of Italy, I am not exaggerating. If you like Italian food, you will love Spago!

Great service and good food

The service is always above par at Spago. There is always someone waiting to pour more water or asking you if you'd like another drink. Very friendly. Very low lit, romantic atmosphere with a beautiful wine rack at back of room. The food is always very good except for the last experience I had where I had stuffed large tubes of squid which I was not impressed with. Overall though I enjoy the restaurant.

We love this restaurant. We have eaten here at...

We love this restaurant. We have eaten here at least 6 times, and we love it every time. We drive 1 hour from the suburbs of Detroit to eat here. We have eaten at Italian restaurants all over the world! The lasagna is the best we have ever had! Bravo Spago!

worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I used to go here years ago when it was a lot more reputable. I stop going for a while because the food was so terrible, and decided to give it another chance......boy am I sorry I did. The food was down right terrible and over priced. I realize why I stopped going here in the first place. Any other Italian restaurant on Erie is much better and much CHEAPER

If I could afford to go to this place every...

If I could afford to go to this place every Friday I would. This was my 4th time there and everytime I have guests in town I take them there because I know for sure I won't be disappointed and so far I haven't. I love everything about that place; the food, the wine, the deserts, atmosphere, service, just everything.

The worst dining experience ever!!! first off the hang pictures in the entrance of people that have suposedly ate there...yeah right> A picture of a well known chef that no longer works there and feature "true tasting" italian food.......never will I go back or recommend to friends the meal was down right awefull!!!

My wife's coworkers recommended this restaurant. The building is very charming (European feel) and welcoming. The staff was very helpful from the moment we walked in the door. The wait staff was exceptionally dedicated to making sure we were taken care of. They even went to the point of bringing my wife a small birthday cake as a surprise her (it surprised me as well... it wasn't planned). I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Try it, I think you'll enjoy it.

Started with there freshly bake focaccia which was very good bread and comes with all the meals.Spicy shrimp appetizer was great tasting.House specialty veal with porcini mushrooms in a brandy sauce was excellent. My wife had eggplant parmesan which she truely enjoyed. Her main course was the seabass and it was the best she ever had. We dine out about once a week and this was our first time and we will definately make this a regular place for us. The service was professional and pleasant. The wine list is excellent. Strongly recommend.

The Lasagna was the probably the best I have ever had. Our waiter recommended a nice wine as well. Overall the experience was good and I would recommend, at least for the Lasagna.

Extremely disappointing meal and service! It was a group of 13 with 2 people celebrating a birthday. I can appreciate that it was a large group and it seemed that the waitstaff may have been a bit inexperienced but overall it was not to pleasant. The salad was wet and saturated in vinegar. My friend's fettucine alfredo looked more like soup. My shrimp entree consisted of 7 shrimp on top of polenta patties that tasted like sawdust but the green beans were tasty. Of the 13 people, I think two of them enjoyed their meal. The time it took to get our meal seemed like a lifetime and it took even longer to pay for the bill. Reservations were for 8 and we did not leave until 10:45. Oh yeah, and it was 100 degrees in the restaurant which made everyone that much more irritable. Sorry Spago on Erie but the one in Tecumseh is better.

I've eaten many palces and have never paid...

I've eaten many palces and have never paid 1.75 for eight ounces of tea with no refills. The food was mediocre at best. Over priced and under seasoned. The Penne Spago had about three small dices of ham and I could barely taste the spices. The penne Spago also was not served with a salad, so I had to buy one. You would think, at 13.95 this meal would at least come with a salad. The Spaghetti looked like it came out of a can and tasted about the same.
