Decent, modern French food

I took my wife to Aix for her birthday. The setting is intimate, upscale and certainly occasion-worthy. The food, which is modern French, was just decent, nothing spectacular, but well-priced. The highlight of the evening was the filet mignon, which is served on the bone.

Where to take Mom for Mother’s Day brunch in Montreal

Why not take Mom to a brasserie inspired by the golden-era in Paris in the heart of Old Montreal? At Brasserie 701, there’s a set menu at $39 that starts with a selection of viennoiseries and an amuse bouche. This is followed by your choice of main dish, which includes chicken and waffles, the brasserie’s famous mac and cheese, eggs Benedict or, if mom is feeling wild, the Norwegian omelet with Jack Daniels’ smoked salmon trout!
