Alberta: a western province full of extraordinary resources

As soon as we hear the word Alberta, we immediately think of the oil and natural gas deposits that are found there, but the province has more than one resource to offer! Albertans are very urban; over 80% of the population lives in cities, mostly in Calgary and Edmonton. Only Ontario beats Alberta for the title of the most agricultural province. The energy sector provides employment to many, but the shops, services and culture also count for much ... not to mention the tourism generated by the Rocky Mountains (Banff and Jasper, where the hot springs are located).

Did you know that Canada has 13 national parks, and five of them are in Alberta? Hiking enthusiasts will find plenty of trails to explore here. On the cultural side, Edmonton plays host to the Edmonton Folk Fest and a jazz festival, and the province’s two major cities each boast their own symphony orchestra — not to mention the province offers numerous food festivals. And what does one eat in Alberta? Well, provided that you’re not a vegetarian, beef, of course! The reputation of Alberta beef has been very well established, to the delight of carnivores. But you don’t need to love beef to enjoy the famous Calgary Stampede!
