Meet the owner

“In the same way that people talk about getting Starbucks when they mean coffee, I want people in the city to say, ‘Let’s go to Miku’ when they want sushi!” explains executive Chef Kazuhiro Hayashi. Kazuhiro is passionate about his acclaimed Vancouver restaurant, and it shows.

Situated at Canada Place, overlooking the soaring white sails and across the ocean to the North Shore, Miku is the perfect setting for fresh and innovative Japanese cuisine. “We mainly focus on our sushi, especially our Aburi charcoal flame-seared sushi,” Kazuhiro says. “But we have wonderful seafood, too. We try to have as much Ocean Wise fish on our menu here and we have plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options too.”

In fact, despite being a seafood-focused restaurant, Miku offers plenty of appetizing delights for non-fish lovers as well. Try the melt-in-your-mouth tender soy-braised beef short rib at lunchtime, or the sous-vide prime rib at dinner and you might find that your favourite steakhouse in town is actually a seafood restaurant.

Amazing experience!

Amazing experience. they accomodated us with our infant, took our stroller in the coat check, and made sure my allergies were attended to. They checked about 6 times to make sure I was ok and no item which I was allergic to didn't make it to my plate. They gave us a full banquette because we had our son with us. Amazing decor, and the food was off the chain!

Vancouver restaurants serving spot prawns

Vancouver restaurants serving spot prawns

Fresh B.C. spot prawns are making a delicious return to the menu this spring at one of Vancouver’s most celebrated Japanese restaurants. Renowned for its gourmet Aburi cuisine, Miku’s specialty nigiri, sushi and seafood platters will wow your taste buds, while the stunning view overlooking the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains will take your breath away. In celebration of spot prawn season, the menu will feature fresh spot prawn sashimi served with deep-fried heads for a delicious crunch. Minami, Miku’s sister restaurant in Yaletown, will also be offering spot prawn specials throughout the season.

You can’t get any more West Coast than the fresh sushi and scenic views at Miku. The glass-walled dining room and outdoor patio overlook the beautiful Vancouver waterfront and the surrounding North Shore Mountains. I recommend ordering a lot of aburi sushi, especially the aburi salmon oshi sushi. Once you eat that, no other sushi will compare. Even simple items such as the Nutrigreens farm tofu salad are awesome. If there was ever a place to really #treatyoself, it would be Miku.
